UPDATE-----solved!!
Even with just the blue spring the noise continued, so I placed the stocker back on and surprise surprise, no more noise.
I got in touch with Forge who have asked me to ship the unit back to them for repairs, but I have not even had it for a month. I feel that they should be offering me a direct replacement with no shipping costs on my end. Am I thinking a little too unreasonably? I have literally had the product for 26 days, and I have had the problem since day one of install.
The shims go inside the piston, guys. If you put them in first, they block the vacuum hose opening. There was a comment about the shims possibly hitting the base plate that makes me think the unit in question may be miss-assembled.
Umm, how then sir, would you explain the phenomenon of the noise without any shims at all?
Also, nowhere in this entire post was there mention of where the shims were placed.
