Clunking noise from driverside front has mechanics stumped

... I ended up using a friend's oxy torch to heat it enough to get it out. ...
😆 Sounds like me at the end of the stuck bolt progression .... [Sparks torch] "It can't be stuck if it's LIQUID 😜" haha

Hmm.. when it was on the lift, did they try putting it in gear while the wheel was off the car? If it only happens while the wheel is spinning, and everything else appears tight, it seems like the issue should be related to the wheel, wheel hub, or maybe the brake/rotor somehow. Maybe CV axle, but your techs said it was fine. You'd think that techs would have been able to hear the noise from under the car if any of the above were the case. Does it only happen in Drive? What if you put the car in Reverse, or put it in Neutral and spin the wheel manually on a lift?

Is it possible for you to post a video of the clunking noise?
So, my mechanic thinks the noise is coming from the viscous coupler. But he also said not to worry about it. He said it will need to be replaced at some point, but that i could drive it for years without it necessarily getting worse. I do trust this guy's work, but I also feel like it's something he didn't want to deal with. Do you think I should get another opinion?

A second opinion wouldn't hurt, as long as you're ok with paying the potential diagnostics fee some places with charge. Just tell them you're looking for a second opinion, and provide as much info as you can regarding the issue you're having and the suggestions provided by your mechanic.

My CX-5 makes a clunk that I feel more than I hear, when I first pull out of my garage. My car has to roll for it to happen, it doesn't do it putting it in gear or giving it gas. Then after one time it doesn't do it again until the next day. So it seems like something sticks over night and un-sticks the first time I pull out. I just ignore it.
