What have you done to your MSP today?

There are no leaks I have checked 8 times. Replaced the BOV and still no boost. If there were a leak big enough to not push 1psi it would register as a vac leak and it pulls 22-23in/hg of vacuum at idle. No leaks.

Even ran it with the WG vac line plugged and hit 1psi in reverse but doesn't even hit 0 on the gauge in forward gears and drops off.

Have you tried running it with the midpipe disconnected? If the cats are plugged or collapsed you may have enough back pressure in the exhaust to keep the turbo from being able to do its job.

I helped change a members chara and he complained that he could not build boost after that. Had good vacuum, it was the lines in his boost gauge/waste gate bpv setup.

What about the lines? They were leaking? Too many sources on one line? It is setup like stock right now, one line running from the IM that splits for the BOV and WGA. All new lines/hoses. Previous owner claims it boosted fine before the motor blew. I ordered a new WGA tonight, if that doesn't fix it I am going to try a boost leak/smoke test. Don't know what else it could be

It was a leak in the line from the IM. We tapped his turbo housing for the boost signal. The waste gate actuator is not supposed to see vac and boost. It's bad for the diaphragm and it also leads to laggy reaction and boost spikes of the wastegate.

This is not a great picture but it was the only one I took. As the T25 does not come with the spots for tapping. This was the best place we found.

How does the car drive? Is it sluggish? Where is your boost gauge connected? What if it's not a leak but a bad spot to have the gauge connected?

It is very sluggish, I can tell it is not building boost. Revs to redline in neutral but in gear under load it takes forever to rev to redline after about 4k rpm. Car runs completely normal and very smooth out of boost but gets slower the more throttle you give it. Gauge worked fine in my other car and it reads vacuum normally. The car feels slower as the gauge drops off, the source for the gauge is the Vac line for the FPR solenoid on the IM. It's on the IM side of the line not the FPR side.

And when it did push boost 3-4 times a couple weeks ago with the old turbo the gauge read 6psi so the source should work fine.

I know the WG isn't 'supposed' to see vacuum but it works fine, tapping the housing is too much work for not much benefit IMO.

I don't think you have a turbo problem. Two turbos behave the same and it sounds like all the surrounding parts and systems are fine. Sluggish under load could be intake, fuel, throttle, ignition, intake manifold, or MAF related. Do you have a wideband? Have you checked that the throttle plate is opening all the way? Have you checked the intake tract from filter to the head for obstructions? What are the chances of a shop towel being stuck in there someplace which is keeping your signal line from seeing boost and starving the engine for air?

I never stuff rags into the piping for that reason, and when I messed with the wg flap a couple weeks ago the car ran normal and hit 6-7psi 4-5 times before I shut if off then when I restarted it went right back to no boost.
It's not that it is sluggish under load, I am watching the boost gauge and it never even gets to 0 on the gauge. It will get close then drop off so I know the car isn't making or holding boost which is why it is so slow.

I sure hope I can figure this out, I am completely stumped. Going to make a boost leak tester and move the boost gauge to a different source just to try it. Trying to focus on all the work I have to get done this week but I can't stop thinking about the car

When you do a boost leak test, check if ur throttle body is leaking. It wasn't the sole reason why I wasn't building boost in the past but it was part of it.

Well after a month of sitting for sale, I finally sold my MSP today. Sad day actually, but I will get another eventually. I have coilovers, an 03.5 front lip, and a Pope DP left over from it. They will be my drive for getting another MSP. heh.

How much did you end up selling it for?
