Has anyone wired a subwoofer amplifier into their p5 or written a how to, i've been wanting to do this but didn't want to pay up the expensive fee visions and other stores charge.

buy the amp wireing kit from pepboys and like a auto zone or something the wire kit is just as good as the stuff they sell in best buy and places like that

what is pepboys and autozone is it a retail store or an online shop because i havent heard of it. im from canada

I did recently, but I got it installed at Best Buy so unfortunately I can't help you with the DIY part. But wiring kits start at around 110$, depending on brand and gauge.

One thing I can suggest: if you're going for alot of watts, I hope you're putting a capacitator (I think that's what it's called) in. I'm gonna have to do that this week, I dreamt that my alternator died on me last night. :\

Where do you plan on mounting your amp? And what kind of box will you be using?

I don't know your skills/experience but i would recommend a friend oversee your work for the first time. How you fuse, how you ground, how you route wires are all lessons learned the hard way (for me).

Good luck!

somebody else will chime in.. but wiring really depends on what kind of amp you are planning on running. Tell us what brands/models you plan on using to determine gauge requirements. Are you hooking this up to factory head unit? Problem is... and dont take this the wrong way. the way you asked the question kind of screams out you have no idea of what you are doing? Finding a buddy isnt always the right thing to do either, if they have learned the wrong way. they may install yours improperly and cause damage to your car or the equipment... there are write-ups everywhere out here. Google it.

Research is your friend...

Crutchfield also has some good info....all in one place..

(dunno)We also have an audio section on here.

Just be sure to run the speaker wires down one side and the power wire down the other side. Do NOT run them to the amp next to each other.

There is no problem with running speaker wire next to power wire. You will however have whine and interference issues if you run low voltage RCA (line-level) wire next to power wire.

sorry for being too vague, im looking to use my premier deh 690 1B already installed along with 12" kicker comp subwoofer and kenwood amp. i had them installed in my old car and i was wanting to use 4 gauge wire for more ubgradability in the future. Are the wires you buy at walmart really as good as the brand name wires
