True 3" MSP DP

after reading this whole thread,I gotta say,this piece shouldn't even get made.
don't get me wrong,I have to say MAM has been a wonderful thing for the MSP owners,and been very,very helpful,but........

price is to high for what it is,I have made DP a lot harder for a lot less,and if MAM is paying $65 per bend,then MAM is getting ripped off.

I pay 20 per bend 3",and get mine without discount+ tax.
stainless for 32 per 3" bend

not to mention the flange can be gotten rather cheaply seeing as it is a very commen flange.
3-bends @20 + a $50-100 flange=$110-$160 for materials

as for labor-ovaling a pipe by hand and clearencing for bolts is an easy project for anyone who is expierienced in sheet metal fabrication,I have only worked with sheet metal for about 2 years,and I find this an easy task.
I know it takes a lot of time to fab one,but not 8 hours.

I make DP for peoples cars,and I have not charged more than $500 for one yet,and I have made some a hell of a lot harder then this one.

and I know other shops that charge more than ours,and they wouldn't ever charge more that 500 for a steel exhaust DP.

I think if this is to much of an expense for MAM to make,then avoid unintentionaly ripping people,just don't make it.

Well then according to this quote...My MBC or EBC that roughly adds 30-40 horse should be in the neighborhood of right around $1000-$1200 huh? I don't think so.
And let me tell you about man hours...I have more time in My Fiberglass pieces that I make for people than you do in that pipe...but I dont charge $500...They are still reasonably priced.
I'm not flaming,and YES the piece so far looks awesome...I would love to have one,but I hate the fact that everyone tries to take advantage of pricing when things are not "READILY" available for a particular vehicle.It makes it even harder to justify doing anything to said vehicle.Now the tubular mani looks like a hard and complicated piece to build regardless of material cost and I would expect the pricing to be higher on that but this piece looks to be a walk in the park compared to that one and yet IF it were ever made woudl come close to the price of the Mani...just not making sesne in my eyes.
Nice piece though...I hope it gives you great gains.

All you people who are saying "Oh I've done a downpipe like that before for under $500" well go do it! Go make some full3" DPs for the MSP and then come back on here and sell them! But until you start selling them, stop telling Beau how to run his ******* business!

I don't make them because I don't want to spend all my time making DPs.
we do build DP's here for cars like the MSP and other cars with little options
but for hondas,DSMs,or other really common cars we just buy them because they are so damn cheap

I don't think there has actually been a price posted, just an estimate. Beau offers a very reasonable version of a 2.5" DP for all who don't want to pay for the 3". 2.5" is all most anybody here is going to need, and if you are putting out enough HP to need a 3" then the price tag shouldn't bother you because you have already put a ton of $$ into your car. He will charge what he wants, and you can buy it if you want. It's simple.

Non 3", stick-welded, crush bent, mild steel, with no thermal coating maybe. Sounds about right.

The only reason why people are bitching about the exhaust vs the Evo hood is because the market is flooded by lower cost alternative exhausts (corksport, apex r1, etc..).

But if u compare 3 in exhausts

ETD Racing is a 2.5-> 3in and they are charging $999 CDN for it that is not even a turbo back
