Photo of the deactivated GPS trackers…

I'm not a fan of the telematics module telling the mothership where I've gone, or how fast i've driven, but I have at least 2 apps on my cell phone that do it already.

The ones who need to be worried are ones that drive a car past it's limits and then try to get a warranty claim for drivetrain issue. Some manufacturers (cough Hyundai) used that info to prove someone was drag racing the car and denied the warranty clain on the thrown rod.

…and rightfully so. If you’re committing fraud, I don’t think you should have a warranty claim. But if you’re passing an 18 wheeler to get out of harms way, then that’s when the tracker/ data gathering device is wrong.

Agree 100%.. Just me personally, I think it's acceptable for them to collect certain data while under warranty, however once that period is over, so should the data collection. (Stellantis continues to, as I just looked my truck up online and it's showing current mileage(

can the telematics modules be disabled via a higher end obd reader? i've ordered an otofix d1 lite, but understand the pro models can do more for newer cars in general. i'm way out of warranty on my cx-5 so i don't see any reason not to disable everything now.
