True 3" MSP DP

o gawd......i was thinking $500. I forgot we're talking about MAM here.....

Uhmmm.... 300 for cost of materials alone + tons of time beating it down, shaping it, and welding it... 500 is out of the question.

hey thats cool......im not arguing price. If he ends up producing them for us at the cost of $700, thats fine.........just too much money for me at the moment.

I would still like to see it though :) Pics of it on the 505zoom please.......

Wait.....700 or 800 for a down pipe? Isn't this thing like less than 3 feet long? (confused)

Maybe I'm thinking of a longer pipe.

I really can't see great advantages over the two smaller pipes into 1 pipe like you see on some of the other DP's. I think 1 3" pipe would be GREAT... don't get me wrong... I would rather just pay less $ for a two-pipe downpipe like GHL has.

For those in sticker shock.... for someone who spends thousands of dollars on engine and turbo ugrades, why not spend a little more on a larger, more efficient DP that will let the larger turbo breathe. Besides, turbos love to breathe.

Soon 505's entire car will be MAM... soon it will be MAM rims, MAM quarter-panels, and MAM windows!! j/k

I love my iON DP and exhaust, sans some minor fitment issues. It made my car A TON faster.

So this DP if made will/should be a welcomed addition anyones MSP.

It worked.:) So I am off to go get the flanges so we can finish this badboy up... probably gonna be another late night here.

Oh and I also got my Espelir springs and Illumina struts in, and my SPEC S3H clutch and SPEC flywheel in, so I won't be able to open her up to see the gains from the downpipe til I get back to New Mexico late tonight or tomorrow afternoon... gotta break in the clutch for 500 miles before I beat on it.

I always thought that last bend on a 3" pipe was quite a feat (hense why there are few 3" DPs).... but it looks like a long pipe was mandrel bent about 45deg then cut just outside of the bend... I am guessing I am wrong but that is what it looks like. Pipe bends are expensive, but those bends do not look as elaborate as... say, the Corksport S-pipe. Not doggin MAM at all, just wondering what the huge issue is with fabricating these parts.

fat pipes... haha... looks good. i would love to see a dyno of that on somebody's stock car.

first of all, nice looking piece.
What benefits are there to a snigle 3" compared to the split pipes of a GHL?
I've seen each of those bends go on ebay in polished ss for 35-55 a piece. Times the 3 bends say 150 and the footprint for the turbo costs ______? Then of course the mock-up time, which only needs be done once, and then welding.
Like I said it looks nice, but I don't understand your figures. any elaboration would be appreciated.

looks nice and made very well.

didnt somebody get one of those ebay dsm T25 3" downpipes for like $80 and mod the AC so it fit?

I am sorry...but i know how much piping and flanges cost and even to have flanges laser cut...and that is NOT anywhere near a pipe that is worth any more than $500....at that price it would be highway robbery...I know the intial fab time is what hurts the most but after it is made and a jig is made...that would be a relatively easy piece to make now that I see it.If that is made from steel as well...It shouldn't be that high...hell only stainless would raise the price signifigantly and even then $500 would be a stretch...Just my oipinion...definately NOT A FLAME....

Jeez guys... I said IF Beau made this piece it would be that high... and judging by everyone's comments in this thread, I won't be surprised at all if he just says screw it and doesn't even make a jig after he reads this thread. Cost of SS is very high... those bends cost more than 65 dollars A PIECE!!! 3 bend sections, a flex section, CNC cut T-2 series flange, 2 3 bolt CNC cut flanges (or a V-band)... DO THE MATH. Even if a jig was made it would still take several hours to make one properly with the SUPER tight clearances. Ovaling out the pipe so it fits in the flange also takes quite a bit of time, as does beating down the backside properly so the pipe can clear the A/C compressor (not to mention that he does it so the metal doesn't get stretched and weakened).

This is the last time I will even address any posts in here that are complaining about the ESTIMATED price IF these end up making it to the market. This started out as a one off piece for me only, and I thought I would try to get Beau to make them for you guys as well.... thanks for shooting down my efforts... I should have just left it as a one of a kind piece for myself.
