Pissssssssssseeeeeedddddd

any place that sells tools........i work on helicopters, and we have alot of huge bolts etc...and anytime we've dropped engines you have to loosen all screws first, and lift up on the engine. Now a trick i use to break loose tight bolts with out a breaker bar, is keep the other bolts in, and get a wrench put it on the one your getting off *also i'd tighten the others in a little just in case. But take your wrench and put it on the one you can't get off, and use a rubber malet and hit the wrench the sudden impact will jar it loose. I'm sure it doesn't have as much stress as a huge turbine engine from our little 2.0 I4 cylinder. Try that man. Just tape the wrench hard with the mallet after the other bolts are back in a little tight. Just to get it loosened........

dude how old are you?
your prob is quite simple... you dont have enough strength nor the know-how. your best bet is to drive to a shop and have them do it

hey man age has nothing to do with it. I know guys that are 45 that have never worked on a car. And i'm sure if this bolt has stress from his engine then its going to be a pain in the ass to get out cause the supporting bolts are out..........way out of line statement there. Strength wouldnt' matter, you heard him saying he pushed with his legs....?

Where's the fun in that?!

yea, hitting it with a mallet is a good diea.. works good on braeking tough lug nuts.. but under the car i dont think there is really any room...

thats what i was thinking......they don't like to take that for an answer in USMC ;)......i've dealt with stuff like this alot....its annouying he just needs to hang in there. I'd step away for 20 minutes and come back and try again....that helps too

age has everything to do with it... if he's 17 and never done anything under the hood then yes he will have a very hard time with tricky bolts. if you didnt realize there are alot of tricks to getting certain things done along with specific tools and experience. if he has neither of these three then he's just gonna stress himself out and prolly cause more harm than good. i gave him the best possible advice... take it to someone who has the knowledge and proper tools along with experience

oh and if something isnt being done properly then you could put a ton of pressure on it and still end up breakin the head off rather than unscrewing it... it comes down to experince and not how hard he's pushing something, although in some cases that will help as well

Its all good man, i just took that like you were giving him a hard time, and i didn't think that really was helping the situation. I thought u were being smart. BUt yes you are right. Trust me i know. I thought u were making fun of em.....:) no hard feelings

haha whoops should of come back earlier to let everybody know that I ended up getting a breaker bar and it took bout 5 min after that. I was just seriously stressed out before bc i was workin on it for hrs and had got nothing accomplished. And yes this is my first time workin on cars. Everything i do under the hood and everything will be for the first time. Im just learning. gotta start somewhere. And probably a good idea to get the proper tools before starting a install. thanks for all the help though

Hmm, but if he takes it to someone, how will he learn how to work on his own car? There are tricks, but he needs to find someone to help him in person, not take it to someone. The easy road doesn't teach you a damn thing.

Go buy some mechanics gloves, sounds like you needed them for your hands. Breaker is always a good thing to have for any bolt thats on the frame.

I haven't found the bolt I can't get off with an open end wrench and a length of pipe.

Correction: I remember a torx (sp?) head on a brake caliper that I ended up stripping and having to have impacted off. Course they don't make open ended torx wrenches :-)

I used about three extensions and had to put a pipe on the end of my breaker bar, and I have a big breaker bar. (gun) I ended up scraping my strut tower brace, but I wanted to paint it red anyways, and now it looks cool.(yippy)

i stripped the bolt trying to get the engine mount off to replace it with awr mount. So where can i go to get that bolt. i went to pep boysand home depot. since it is sunday i didnt have a chance to go to mazda. is mazda my best bet?

yea but the awr mounts didnt come with bolts the bolts i cant get a wrench on at all they are (guess not wrechable.) this was done by someone else i am the second owner of the msp so im guessing the person befor me tried to get the mount off. 17mm will not fit on the bolt nothing will? so i def need a new bolt if i ever get it off

Use a jack, and try to jackup your engine slightly from underneath b/c I think the engine is kinda resting on that one bolt you cant get out now!
