if my LSD ever breaks and my dealer blames me for abuse, I think I'll downgrade to open differential since I can't afford $1200 for a Quaife![]()
having a welded would not affect cornering in autox?TurfBurn said:well I'm going to probably weld mine.. and since I'm pushing around 230 or better (once I get bumped back up to 11 psi) at the ground... we'll see real quick if it holds up and I race auto-x and high speed lapping... auto-x about 3 times a month.
Can you be any more vague about the RX-8? And what kind of gas tank issues on the Mazda6? Chances are, its owners who can't put the f-ing gas cap on right...JDM Sam said:go to a service dept and find out how many rx-8s go in with problems and 6's with gas tank issues. if someone didnt dyno the car and call bs on the hp #s. you think mazda would have done anything? Ford owns Mazda and they have brushed off their bad service through Mazda. Believe it or not if there is someone above you, they will tell you how to run s***. And Mazda rushed Callaway to do the ECU and turbo design. Go look at Callaway's twin turbo vettes. Do you see the owners complaining about bad fuel maps? Tuning takes time and Mazda rushed them.
TurfBurn said:no.. motormounts won't really do anything for the LSD... the LSD is in the motormounts and all the flexing at the CV joints will make it so there is little effect or stress on the LSD... sure some of the wheel hop is not good for the LSD as it adds shock loading, but I don't think that is the major culprit... but who knows.
Holes from what??F2TNYC said:i blew like 4 trannies....all due to wheel hop and by saying trannies i mean open diffs(all gears were in place) all that happened was a hole in the side of the tranny ....
Do you have any clearer pictures of where it actually broke? I can't tell from those. I ask because I will want to get mine professionally welded and strengthened when I get it.JDM Sam said:What the guys said above^. Give it gas & no go. Heres some pics of it I took today when I went to go inspect it. POS Differential. One pic is where the differential is next to the gear its supposed to be attached to but it's not.
