ETS 3.25" TMIC Finally Installed!!!

Thats why I posted the pictures with the tape measure... I don't know what size they are. The clamps don't have it stamped on it...

I thought if I posted a measurement of the stock tubes and t-clamps, one could estimate the size.

You can always call PG for the sizes...

haha oh ok, ill see if my estimation matches yours and go from there

Thanks for pictures. Interesting about torque on stockers. Is your boost stable now? hope so. Sure seems like simple sensible idea to me. Now im going start shopping again thanks alot.

Boost tubes are 3" clamps for the cold side and 2.5" clamps for the hot side.
Summit sells full stainless T bolt clamps for like $4-$5 each. Not all T bolt clamps are made of 100% stainless. Like Jegs......they are SS bands and a zinc bolt and nut. Summit's T bolt clamps are *MUCH* beafier than alot of the T bolt clamps out there. They have the alignment guide on them so the band doesn't slide out from under the T bolt area while tightening the clamp up good.

+1
I think Summit Racing does have the best prices on the t-clamps!!

Seems more stable...but like I said, its the 15.XX thats more stable... It doesn't seem to fluctuate as much... I should have data logged before and after... Oh well... I just like the security and knowing I have solid parts on the car.

Don't want to worry about being on the road and having a cheesy stock clamp popping loose.

I appreciate your help 08

so tempted to get a tmic but i don't want crazy spikes and fuel cut, waiting until my ap shows up to reset the stock parameters to work with the tbe and cai and then maybe

Get all the bolt-ons you want... With my bolt-ons, I only spike to no more than 20.6 psi and thats occasionally to 20.6 when its really cold 30*s, I usually spike to 17 psi max. Spikes only last one or two seconds; its safe-the leanest I've experienced is in the 11s...nowhere near 12s...and my psi settles to 15.6 (stock level)-I have no MBC)...I'll be waiting for a PnP to mess the tuning parameters.

You don't have to wait for the AP (which may take till 2012 to come out)...

Get the bolt-ons now...then tune to maximize their potential...when and if the AP or PnP come out.

Good luck and keep us posted!!:D

I just ordered my second TMIC after selling my first to Jbiiird. Seller's remorse coupled with the decrease in performance made swampass sad.

Why did you sell it...? (huh)

I was going to use the money for another hobby of mine that ended up going better than expected. I didn't need the extra money. In fact, I actually made some unexpected money in the last month doing side work.

Sweet video swampass

Stellar guys who put on a great live show. I saw them a few times locally and traveled to catch them a 4th time. Bachmann remembered seeing me from a prior show. This was back in 93-94. I think the biggest show was about 100-150 people.

With all the mods I have, I have no drivability issues (knock on wood)...
I think its primarily do to the warmer climate of Florida. I think if I was exposed to colder temps (sub 30s), I might have issues...

I still want a CDFP though, I hear it helps stock vehicles too...so I could only imagine what it could do to mine...

just wondering whats a cdfp

wait a second... i thought the tmic would be mooore beneficial in the winter, rather than the summer because of heat soak. its going to be0 100* here in a month or so, and if a tmic would help me out, i would be psyched. so would i see worthwhile gains in that type of heat if i weren't sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic or something?

maybe you should get a fmic

im not all for fmic's, they seem more complicated, and definitely more expensive then they're worth, in my opinion. i can definitely think of other things to put the money towards..

anyways.. anyone seen a lot of heat soak with tmic's on a hot day? if so, are they more beneficial than not, despite the heat soak?

The temps here in Florida have not been too hot yet. The only time I've experienced heat soak is during racing...while waiting in the staging lines to go up to the start line. The temps definitely go up along with your pre-TMIC intake temps. Once you start moving though, the TMIC cools off pretty quickly. In these instances, I would have preferred a FMIC.

Regardless, whether its a FMIC or TMIC, you are going to get reduced performance out of it in hot weather.

You have to realize though that cooling in intake temperatures are only half of the benefits of the TMIC. The other half is better flow across the unit...

It will definitely help you during those hot months...though, in bumper to bumper traffic, not so much. Once you start moving and get some air through the cooler, you'll be fine.

FWIW, this car, even with the stock TMIC does not heat soak anywhere close to my 1.8T VW. That car was relegated to the power of a standard Golf during periods of traffic.
