Hey guys, hoping to get some help from the community on this one. I can't seem to find the location of the coolant temperature sensor on the engine. Everything I could find on the Internet shows the location of the sensor on the previous gen, or the location of the sensor on a 2.5 non-turbo. Usually it's easily visible by the thermostat housing, but I can't seem to locate it on the 2.5T. To be fair, I haven't taken the battery out or anything, but I wanted to get an idea of where it is before I start ripping stuff out. Any ideas?

The part number of the sensor is SH01-18-840 if that helps.

Thanks @youri. That's the location of the thermostat, which it seems I'll need to replace anyway. I'm thinking I'll need to remove the battery, intake piping, and battery tray to see the sensor, which sucks. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Maybe I'll just replace the thermostat.. today I drove the car for a little while and after it got to operating temp, the upper coolant hose wasn't hot to the touch.

Oh my bad. I thought you meant the thermostat. I didn’t realise they were difdefent things. How about this one then ? The ECT sensor (engine coolant temperature sensor) is number 9. It is under engine/control system in the manual.

The manual says you only need to remove these items to remove it (in that order)
-drain the coolant
- plug hole plate ( the plastic engine cover)
- battery
-Air-inlet

So i think you should be able to see it without removing much, altough the inlet pipe may be in the way.

They also say you need a special socket to remove it though. (How special that socket is i am not really sure).

The manual also have a method to test the sensor (in heated water with a multimeter) to test the sensor and see if it works correctly.
