my engine USED TO BE a freak

it was some good snow, also didnt help that when we pulled the engine we noticed there was another hole on the other side of the block.

it was some good snow

LOL like the yellow kind?? LOL
I don't see the snow holding up to the temps under the hood let alone in/on a hot motor.
I call your bluff!!! (rei)
But I would love to see the vids (nana)

ok finally got the motor in and it runs. everything was smooth till i tried putting the clutch and FW on the junkyard motor. stupid torque wrench wasn't marked low enough, but would spin lower than 25ftlbs, so i "guessed" 14-19ftlbs, well i guessed wrong and snapped a clutch cover bolt. got it out found another bolt and cut it to fit. then i drained the oil and noticed it was all milk so i was like, "motherfuckers sold m a bad motor". my dad talked some sense into me and said the motor looked power washed, and water prolly somehow made it into the oilpan.

there IS a difference between an auto main bearing support and a manual support, did not know that. it's small and i made a bracket just in case. as you can see in the pics the manual support has an extra hole to line up with the threads on the tranny, where the auto support does not. and the bracket i made out of a steel spacer and an aluminum bar my dad had laying around. the bolt is only a 14mm but i figured it's better than not having it in there.

also installed the awr rear engine mount and a 626 manifold, i have a lot more power now. feels just as fast at 12 psi as i was before at 15psi. now i don't know if it's because it's colder, i havn't driven it in a while or what, but it feels that way. 2nd gear spins. running a little rich around 5krpms and has some stumble so i gotta tune that out.

LOL you thrown the same rod as I did 6 month ago, but Mine wasnt runing cuz it locks up the crank XD

So I'm loving the 626 manifold. I might turn my boost down. Not having traction in 2nd at half throttle. Sucks lol. Might be cuz its cold and I have summer tires.

Im gonna regap my plugs and see id it kill the stumble cuz I don't think its the tune. I just threw the plugs in instead of capping them like I usually do. I know its a big gap from NGK. Running ZFR6F11, didn't carry a 7 heat range.

you in ft bragg or greensboro with that car? cuz im just about to get my car running again soon and im in linden, right outside fayetteville

u can click the link in my sig to see the build

your runnign 12 on stock block? sounds like you picked up another motor pretty quick, thats cool

Haha yeah that's what I was rnning on the other motor. Ran 15psi for like 2 days. Hit 19 at one point. After I made the decision to get a junkyard motor It tool the place 3 days to get me the motor and then 5 days to swap. I work slow and only worked on It from 10am-5pm.

Okay, so the last system on a stock block 'blowed up real good' so you are running the same system on another stock engine.

Have you started budgeting for the next motor too?

Seriously. You must go forged internals. Learning curve and all that... ;)

Or turn it waaay down.

(BTW: Thanks for serving our country! )

this system runs good at 12 psi on a stock block. i was being stupid with the last motor and cranked the boost cuz i didn't care. i got a motor as quick as possible because it's easier to have the car running than just sitting there with no engine in it. i don't "need" to go forged, but i want to go higher than 12 psi so i will go forged. and yes, i have money for a forged motor, which i will order when i get back.

Thank you. :)

I don't understand why you didn't just sell the old motor instead of blowing it up on purpose? I mean you could have got some money for it and put that towards your build. Even if you only got a dollar, you could go buy an air freshener to get rid of that blowed up engine smell.

Some people seem to have so much money they just don't know what to do with it. Must be nice (pow)

Number one, I didnt blow it up on purpose. Number two no one is going to biy a motor with a spun bearing. And I dropped the blown motor at a Junkyard aand got $40 for it.

And I deserve every penney I make so you can go **** yourselves. If you want to live the way I do, join the military and learn to budget. I bought my car, I insure my car, and every cent that went into it is mine.

word

but um i think i should be done with the car tomm. i had could have finished today but my IC pipes didnt fit the way i planned, so i had to cut and weld them and do a bunch of other s*** to get it to fit,
all i have to do now is get the cold side fit, hook up the vacuum to the WG, BOV, SSAFC, and boost gauge, then start it and go for a ride :D
