Wheels in the works

yup i got my spring compressors for $40 from supercheapauto too! :)
probably the best way to save money is to try doing it yourself first. seems like quite a few people have done springs and struts themselves and it doesn't sound too hard. so i'm gonna give it a go first and worst case, if i stuff it up, i'll just take it to a shop that does spring installs for $110 incl alignment. front strut bar should be pretty easy too. rear swaybar looks a bit trickier tho.

hey jus a general question, I'm wonderin if a 205/45/16 tyre will fit on the stock sp20 rims? Cause my two front tyres are balding so I need to replace them. So I would also like to know if havin 205/45/16 tyres in the front and 195/50/16 (stock tyres) on the back will cause problems.

fit fine. that's what i have on at the moment. i have toyo T1-S 205/45/16 tyres and they are great. i got them for $190 ea inc fitting etc. the rim protector is perfect too.

what you're probably better doing is to get 4 new tyres, or rotate your tyres more often!

4 is most comfy as the sidewall be largest
3 will be the best tyre grip wise and should be the closest to keeping the speedo the same speed (i think)

Rims are gonna be 17x7...will Falken ST115 with rim width 7.5 suffice...or does rim width have to be exactly 7...

do tyres have a rim width specification? or do they just have a tyre width specification, like 205mm 215mm etc? I didn't know you could get 7" tyres vs 7.5" tyres.

tyres usually have a "recommended" range available from the maker. 215/45/16 falken azenis for example are 7"-8" rims.

as a general rule of thumb, you'll get better handling from going to the widest recommended rim width, better ride comfort from the narrowest recommended rim width
