What have you done to your MSP today?

Why was the pan leaking? I recall the AWR's having an issue being true, the flanges were warped and didn't fit flush on the MBSP.

Anyway I lost clutch pedal pressure in #1574, replaced the clutch master today and bled the line with a vacuum bleeder. It worked perfect for the first drive, but when I got back in it again the engagement was on the floor and it got stuck in reverse. Had to shut the motor off, put it in neutral and re-start it. I have a braided line on the way and a new slave as well. Going to swap the slave and hope it will work for now. It was also two quarts low on oil, the motor only has about 40k on it so I think it's the turbo. The oil return O-ring leaks for sure but there has always been oil residue in the charge pipes. I bought the turbo on the forum a couple years ago and the seller claimed it had 55k miles but I am starting to think that was a lie. May just put the low mileage T25 I bought a few weeks ago on #1574 and buy a new T28 for the forged car after I sell 1574. With the Steedspeed mani, T28, Pope DP, 440 injectors, the ZE intake and a custom tune on the AFC I think the car can make at least 300wheel.

No, it wasn't the mounting flange, but rather a corner. I had rewelded it before, but during a transmission replacement the engine slid off of the jack stand and all of the force was exerted on that corner and it started leaking again.

The REAL issue was that it was coated by someone we all know prior to installation to remedy the leaking pan at the seams. It held for a long time, but started leaking through the coating making it impossible to find. Ground the coating off of the pan in the area I suspected, found and repaired one crack reinstalled it and it was leaking elsewhere, but still through the coating. Was going to plate it, but she just HAD to have it.

Easiest way to diagnose a master/slave cylinder is to use a line clamp on the rubber line (assuming the car has one, which the MSP does), apply pressure and hold. If the pedal drops with the master isolated, there's your problem. Otherwise, have someone depress the pedal, maintain position while you monitor the slave piston to see if it retracts back in. And, of course, always check in the boot for fluid.

I'm waiting for a crackhead deal on an MSP, but since I live so close to Alex (Todd) he always snags them up before I can get a chance. He's set up with a trailer and has connections in the event he can't get to the car quickly enough.

Yeah he is. Can't he stick to Miatas lol

Does he fix them and sell them or part them out? I remember he was on the forum years ago but I think he was banned.

Looking into turbos I think I am going to buy a GTX2867R CHRA and install it inside the stock T25 housings. I have three bad turbos so I am hoping I can remove the hot side on at least one of them without snapping any of the bolts.

Braided clutch line should be here tomorrow, I will install it and bleed the hell out of the line and hope I finally have a clutch again. It has a new clutch master and slave and will have a new line so there really isn't anything else that I can do.

I think he parts them. I've seen him sell as a whole when he can get a good enough deal on them.

I like your idea if you can get a machine shop to bore out the housing to except the GTX2876R but it might be cheaper to to just buy a housing made to fit.

It looks like I will have to bore the housings, I am trying to get a job at a certain part manufacturer/distributor so hopefully that won't be too much of an issue. I know people used to swap disco potato GT2860RS CHRAs into the stock MSP turbine and compressor housings (MPnick ugprade).

gonna start picking apart my parts car this weekend. its supposed to snow, so hopefully it holds off until i can get the car in the air and strip all the body panels i want. engine prob wont come out this week, but will be freed up for sure.
i might start swapping interior pieces but id like to clean the donors first. interior looks really good. really shows what a set of seat covers does for it. ill have to invest in some i think. many of the vinyl panes are better and will prob get swapped. sadly the steering wheel isnt better. but my car should be looking new inside this week.

after driving the parts car i think its running better than mine. my friend suggests mine doesn't have the flash so maybe the parts car does and it just runs smoother. either way it runs well, shifts well and clutch doesn't slip, so i might just pull it out as a unit and stick it into mine without the exedy or fidanza and start tearing into my stock motor.

we bought the parts car for $500,my share is $250. he wants the turbo but ill just pull the whole turbo system and give it to him. I wouldn't really have asked for a better thing to happen ha. if only it had mods.

oh I washed it tonight.. its still below zero so the soap was freezing as i washed it lol.. i wanted to get some fresh wax on it before the snow comes back though.

That's awesome, sounds like fun.

The flash doesn't do much to change the way it runs, but most all 03.5 models got it while the car was on the lot. I would be very surprised if your car didn't have the flash already.

I have now replaced the clutch master (parts store part), the clutch slave (exedy) and put a techna-fit braided clutch line on the car. I used a vacuum bleeder and bled the crap out of it, almost two complete brake fluid bottles. No air at all comes through the line. It has a good pedal but if it hold the pedal to the floor and wiggle it back and forth it looses pressure and is slow to rebound. I can push the pedal over and over and it feels alright but if I hold it to the floor for a second and let up part way and push it back down a couple times it will loose pressure and go to the floor. It may be the off brand clutch master, I honestly don't know why it is giving me so much trouble.

Turns out the parts store master was bad, leaked back into the res so the pedal would loose pressure. Swapped it out earlier today and now the clutch finally works like it should. Went to the Mazda dealer I used to work at and had the AC system evacuated so I can swap the compressor. Then I can replace the turbo mani, windshield and get the tint removed and it will be ready to sell.

Solved a new gauge problem. Somehow the speedo needle got underneath the peg on 0. I have no idea how that happened but its just another weird gauge cluster issue for me I suppose. Just popped out the cluster and popped off the clear plastic and gently turned the needle back and it works again.

had a good day of pillaging from the titanium car today. engine is pretty free from the top, just have to crawl under and unhook exhaust and shifter linkages, yank axles and she will come out tomorrow.
fished all the body parts i want for the wife and they will just need a few spot fixes and scuff/spray black, though getting the spoiler off was a PITA. i was gonna keep the whole trunk lid but the licence plate bolts were rusted in pretty good. shame, the rest of the trunk wasnt too bad. but it will certainly be more money and time to paint an entire trunk vs just a spoiler.

the interior was quite good so it came out. still have to fish the ebrake handle, hoping i dont have to disable to ebrake to do so, but i gues i can swap the handes around before recycling he car.

we arent bothering with protege chassis stuff. much of that is too cheap to bother trying to save used ones.

hoping i can find a replacement sub for the factory sub box. ive never had one, but it would be perfect for my limited listening needs. the msp is too loud to really care about car audio that actually costs money.

The kicker 8" subs fit in the stock box, my rockford fosgate did not fit without a spacer. The cone itself was a bit larger and didn't fit in the stock sub box mounting holes.

ill have a look for that. i hate to comdem an msp to the scrap like this... but whoever owned it just didnt take care of the chassis at all. ah well. increases the value of mine i suppose.

How bad is the rust? One guy is parting a titanium on FB and the rust is mostly on the rear subframe. He could easily replace the subframe and keep the car but i guess he is ignorant or just doesn't care.

I think I have found my next project, was talking to the owner of a spicy that I think I can fix up. Just have to get my titanium sold but the spicy owner says he will hang onto it for me. Pretty stoked about it, I hope it works out.

Basically everywhere plastic meets metal is gone. Strut towers starting to get holes. All the plastic looks fantastic though. If anyone wants titanium mirrors it gives me a reason to take them off. Most of the stuff left wouldnt be worth it for me to ship, but msp mirrors getting hard to find. Took me some years to find really good yellow ones.
