8. Paint blows - As soon as you buy it, take it somewhere and have them put on loads of clear coat, my hood is a disgrace and all doors have marks (chips) from other cars

But first get all of the swirl marks buffed out. They are bad. Mine has had them since I took delivery and apparently alot of them they get in have them as well. I'm trying to get the dealership to do something about it so I don't have to take a full day trying to get them out myself.

Alright. THANK YOU for your honest replies!

Seems to me the biggest gripes you have are the ones that I'm used to. My current car....

1. rattles like a mutha....
2. has a lot of wind noise...
3. has a stereo you can't hear
4. stupid interior things missing, like no power doorlock button

Wind noise is when u have roof racks. i have no wind noise unless windows are down lol.

The stereo is fine i got the 03.5 one with the 100w sub it sounds very nice its better then my parents car stereo systems (stock).
there is a power doorlock jus only on the driver side.

second that
roof rack gives you noise .. supposedly if you turn the bars around it goes away
my 6cd pkg + sub sounds better the the bose in acura rsx-s with sub .. in my opinion and the owner's of the rsx-s
power features could be better but the basic functionality is there.. since this is my car and nobody elses i dont care for a power lock button on the passengers doors

if u do want an unlocker on the passenger side itll be a fun Mod to do. the only thing that pissed me off the most was the door locks didnt sit flush but i did the door lock mod and its easy and its sits flush now

How do you do the passenger side power lock button?

Love my P5, needs more power and isn't a good winter car. Interior is nicely finished but the seat fabric is kind of faggity. This car is best bang for buck over civic, sentra, neon, etc!!!

heh i was thinkin about doing it but itll take some time u connect wires to the door unlocker and get another switch and take passenger door pannel off and cut it place switch and seal it in there and then run the wires to it.

1) The paint chips too easily.

2) No passenger side central lock button.

3) Trade-in/Resale value is junk.

4) Ricey tail lights.

Otherwise, the car is the perfect definition of "bang for you buck."

i finally found what i hate about the car!!!!

i hate how i can't help but WANT to drive it. i hate how i can't walk away from it after a drive without turning around and looking at it. i hate how people always stare at my car. (might be because of my messed up front bumper) i hate how i have no money because it has all gone towards the car! and that's about it.

I love my P5, both of them.

There are some quirks, but I bought these cars for function and not for every little detail.

I went from a Jeep Cherokee to a P5 and I love it. Its more fun to drive, the handling is great, the breaks are great(compared to my jeep), the sound system is far beyond what my jeep had.

It is a little noisy on the highway, but so was my jeep.

Right on...insert CR-V for Jeep Cherokee and you have my situation.

To me, all the positives far out way the negatives. But, I will say what will the car be used for?

For me, its to get from point A to point B. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think the other question should be asked:

What Do You Like/Love About Your P5?

Here we go again, from another forum and sorry for the length but I gotta be thorough, it's part of my job:

http://msg.toprotege.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=3fce7a280640ffff;act=ST;f=11;t=9761

- interior room.
- great handling, just throw it on the racetrack and go.
- decent OEM sound system w/ tweeters in mirror.
- 4 wheel discs [makes it easier to upgrade to larger ones instead of converting rear drums to disc].
- white faced gauges.
- ROUND gauges, not that partial sweep stuff or digital crap.
- side marker light.
- rear storage space.
- folding power mirrors.
- dark interior color [seriously].
- relatively comfy and supportive seats.
- nice looking outside.
- high mounted third brake light.
- comes with driving/fog lights.
- no sunroof on the model I wanted [i.e. unlike a Integra GS-R].
- rod shift linkage.
- great instrumentation layout.
- great price.
- the leather shift knob [not a fan of the "cue ball" on the '01/'02 - sorry guys].
- leather wrapped and fat steering wheel.
- nice low end torque [previous car was '94 Civic w/ 98 lb/ft with an auto].
- rear passenger headrests [good for passengers but can't see rearwards with them on].
- adjustable height headrests.
- exposed cup holders, not the covered one [again sorry '01/'02 guys].
- 60/40 split rear seats.
- Mazda payment promotion and low interest rate.
- made in Japan.
- front strut tower bar.
- fully independent suspension.
- did I mention great handling?

My other choices:
SE-R SpecV, Focus ZX5, Elantra GT, Protege ES GT package, Imprezza Wagon, Acura 1.7 EL.

I just want HONEST thoughts on what you DO NOT like about your car.

The door locks. I'm used to them automatically locking at 15 mph like my last two cars (I'm finally remembering to do it myself... sometimes). I also want the ******* door to OPEN when I pull on the handle, without having to reach over and manually unlock it. It also needs a master lock button on thr passenger side.

The steering wheel. I like to be able to grip it at the 9:00 and 3:00 positions.

Besides that, I love it. Some think it's slow, but personally, mine hauls ass. Just had to learn the sweet spots and don't be afraid of RPMs

I wouldn't have bought the car if it was equipped with a non-defeatable auto-lock. Sorry, but I think autolock is one of the most annoying features a car can have.

We had a 2002 4runner (POS) that drove me crazy. Run out to the car at the mall parking lot then drive to pick the family up at the entrance and I would have to then unlock the doors to let them in. Of course this only happened after one of them would damn near rip off the door handle trying to get into the locked car.

Drive to work, get out of car and then try to get computer bag out of back seat and the damn door is locked. I then have to open the driver's door and hit the unlock button. Pain in the ASS.

I am an ADULT and if I don't want to lock the freaking doors then I shouldn't have to.

Luckilly I don't own any cars with autolock anymore. Unfortunately I rent cars (M-Th) everyweek while I am at the client site and every last one of them has autolock...PT Crusier this week....

Sorry for the rant, but I will NEVER buy a car that has non-defeatable autolocks as a 'feature'.

15k miles
1. interior materials already wearing out mostly in the drivers area so far
2. transmission just sucks...already popping out of gear in 3rd...goes into 4th funny (kinda on the verge of grinding)...transmission mounts suck and cause lots of wheel hop...clutch chatter like you would not believe...all this before turbo at 8k miles!
3. engine...rattles, shakes, moans, etc
4. engine power...or lack thereof...turbo took care of that problem
5. windows vastly go up/down at different rates
6. rattles and squeaks in the car from every corner

The things I hate is

1- the 2 buttons for the sun roof
2- ratio of the 5th gear. the car runs a too high rpm for crusing at 80.
3- gas mileage, thought it would be better but because of the above it is not.
4- would like better seats.

The things I like is

1- the stereo, I have the in dash cd changer.
2- capacity to carry stuff ie mtn bike, house stuff
3- handling
4- price

1. it does rattle..
2. I think this is related to the roof racks and/or moonroofs without wind deflector.. I have a canadian p5 (no roof rack) and a wind deflector on my moonroof.. and can cruise on the highway with my moonroof open and I'm always surprised how quiet it is..
3. *I* think the stock stereo/speakers are decent.. obviously if you're really into this type of thing, you'll upgrade no matter what the stock system is.. but I've been overall impressed with the stock system
4. there a couple minor inconveniences, no rear cupholders, no one touch moonroof.. etc..

There's no real problems with the car.. just mildly iritating things.. and I don't think theres many (any???) cars you can buy brand new fully loaded (abs, air bags, ac, moonroof, cruise, power locks, windows, etc etc, the list goes on and on :) ) for under 25K CAD out the door (including freight, gst, tire tax, etc..)

Not to mention all the great reviews from the 'experts'..

Yeah I know this is a bad stuff thread.. I just can't make myself do it! :)
