Wastegate Question?

can someone tell me what type of wastegate in on the MSP's. I had someone give me the idea of venting the wastegate to the atmosphere. What exactly would this do? Please excuse my lack of knowledge.

we have an internal wastegate. from my understanging, you cant vent that atmospherically. someone correct me if im wrong
