PLEASE READ THE POST IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE POSTING A REPLY IN THIS THREAD.

IMPORTANT NOTE: These files and processes are compiled from third party sources. Please be aware of the risks of performing these updates yourself. There is potential to brick your CMU if some steps are missed or the wrong files are used. Mazdas247 does not assume responsibility of the actions taken by its members or the damages that may result from those actions.

These files are being provided as a courtesy to our members, to allow them to avoid the potential dealer fees and time wasted in the dealership, waiting for a technician to perform these updates. A previous member of the Community was kind enough to provide these source files and instructions - as such, these files and the links that may be provided to you carry no guarantee that they will remain intact in the future.

Typically, most people will perform these firmware updates in conjunction with an Android Auto Apply CarPlay retrofit kit, which can be purchased or ordered from any Mazda dealer. However, these firmware updates may also resolve certain bugs and glitches in previous versions, and may also improve overall performance of the infotainment system.

The most recent, and final update at this time is 74.00.324A. This firmware version/format (.up) will not be installed on new Mazdas. You must use the correct region for your Mazda, as detailed below.

74.00.324A NA N for North America, USA, Canada, Mexico, etc.
74.00.324A EU N for Europe and UK, etc.
74.00.324A 4A N (ADR) for Australia, NZ, Middle East, Thailand, South Africa, Oceania, etc.

THIS IS THE LATEST GENUINE FIRMWARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
FROM MAZDA JAPAN As Of December 30th, 2022.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALL 7x.00.xxxx FIRMWARE INCLUDES the Software for
CAR PLAY + ANDROID-AUTO....But...

For the CP/AA CONVERSION TO ACTUALLY WORK IN YOUR MAZDA
You MUST HAVE THE TWO ''GENUINE MAZDA PARTS'' INSTALLED
AFTER any 7X.00.XXXX is installed and or WORKING in YOUR CAR FIRST.

THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS or OTHER BRAND PARTS...None, DO NOT ASK.

YOU MUST PURCHASE and INSTALL the TWO GENUINE MAZDA PARTS LAST.

DO NOT INSTALL THESE NEW PARTS FIRST or BEFORE ANY 70s FIRMWARE OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE NEW PARTS RE-INSTALL THE OLD PARTS AND THEN START AGAIN.

YOU CAN NOT SEPARATE THIS CARPLAY and or ANDROID-AUTO
AS THEY ARE BOTH INSTALLED WITH all 7x.00.xxx FIRMWARE.

CARPLAY and ADROID-AUTO WILL NEVER WORK WITHOUT THE
TWO ''GENUINE MAZDA PARTS'' Finally INSTALLED Last...PERIOD.

Regarding wired and wireless AA and ACP, please be aware that Mazda only supports the wired aux hub and two large USB cables for Carplay and/or Android Auto conversions.
Genuine Mazda CP/AA wireless is only obtained by using an updated "Wireless CMU" (the inside dash hardware) and the updated aux hub.

Mazda does not sell or support wireless CP/AA via a "dongle." These "dongles" are not from Mazda nor can they be considered a genuine Mazda part. They are sold on Amazon, eBay etc. Quality and longevity is an unknown compared to OEM solutions.

I just completed this today for my 2018 CX-5 running on 59.00.504. I PM'd @Candurin who sent me links to both files I needed to jump to 70.x and then to 74x. I was very patient and followed the procedure carefully. I'm planning to install my https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) tomorrow.

Thank you for this post and prompt reply to my request for the files!
Amazon wireless carplay works great. Very easy to install based on YouTube videos to pull out the trim pieces. I routed cables from the top to back.

To be clear, according to the post instructions, if you're running any firmware newer than 55.00.650A then it should be a single file update, no?

I got my friends into a 2018 CX-5, and am going to help them install CarPlay. I can confirm jumping from 59.00.65A to 74.00.324A was a single file update, with no failsafe package install, as was stated in the OP. Thanks for the detailed instructions!

Yes my CX-9 was on 59.xx.xx firmware and I did the single file update. I think you can still do the upgrade to the failsafe and the final upgrade safely, even if your firmware version is on or above 55.00.650A (NA N) or the 56.00.100A (EU N or 4A N). For those newer versions, you simply have the option to do the one file upgrade if you wanted to.

I just updated to version EU 70.00.100A. Will I still be able to update the version after installing the carplay module, or do I have to update to the latest version first?

I think you should update to the latest version first, just to avoid any potential mix ups

I have a Mazda CX-5 Grand touring 2021
Firmware is at 11022
Located in the USA

Could someone help me with a link to download the latest firmware. I believe it is NA03_11048. Not sure about that one.

If you haven't heard back yet:

To gain access to these files, please PM @Candurin. Do not post in this thread asking for the links or files. your post may be missed. Keeping track of PMs is much easier.

Note that firmware versions are region specific, so when you send a PM to @Candurin for the links, be sure to specify the following:

1. Your car model
2. Your current firmware version installed (XX.XX.XXX format)
3. Your region

Sorry for posting it here but @Camdurin does not have the latest generation software. At that point unsure who to PM. I know there has been some exchange for the latest version from the comments.

Does anyone know if you can change region by updating the OS? I have a Japanese car but would like to update to AU/NZ version of the OS.
Can I overwrite / install the different region.

Current is:
70.00.110 JP M
