#*&$^%#$ Today

I start my car up. I was in NH for the weekend, and it was cold. Compared to NH, today was warm. Idrove my car out of my neighborhood, takes a few mins, i also let it warm up like i always do.

I get to thestop sign of the main road, put foot on pedal, nothing happens. Then, a hop skip n jump of power, the engine has taken a mind of its own

I put my caution lights on, the gas pedal is dead, i floor it and nothing happens, (no revs either, just like the engine is unresponsive) So, i pull over, put it in park, hit the gas again, engine revs fine. Put into drive, pedal becomes unresponsive and engine gets mind of its own again, quick punchy revs to 2k, then drops, little spurts of power then nothing.

Called mazda roadside, which may i add was fantastic and they in turn lined up a AAA flat bed and picked my car up within 60 mins and brought it to the dealer where i purchased the car.

They test drove, hooked up to comps etc etc and it was fine. No probs.

Im picking it up tonite, i swear if this thing is gaffed they r going to wish they never sold me the car. I have 5k miles on it.

well, happened again. dealer said it was fine. lied. said they drove it. lied (mileage). Drove it tonite - engine misfiring like hell, bucking on the highway, then the car shut off, almost caused an accident on the highway. Waited 3 hrs to get it picked back up.

was it gpapi that had this misfiring/detonation prob that resulted in a lemon? id like some more info on who has dealt with Mazda on this problem. The engine and this car right now, after driving it for 1 minute on the highway i dunno if its going to be right. No check engine lights etc, just problems galore.

i am mad. holy @#@#

sucks dude. take a few deep breathes before you go back in. Getting crazy mad will do nothing for you.

ha im trying. after sitting in the car for around 3 hrs, because some asshole at the dealer said my car was ok has me a little pissed. not to mention, the 1 1/2 hrs this morning for the same problem. just a bad day.

Mikey, sorry for the trouble. Hey, did you do anything prior to this like wrong gas octane rating, fuel additives, alternator, batteries, etc? You may want to check those.

Man, sorry to hear that.....glad you had better luck with the roadside assistance....when I locked myself out of my car somehow roadside told me 46 hours or maybe she said 4-6 hours...either way...horrible. Hope everything works out for you just remember every brand has lemons and issues! Sorry to hear it's happening with your car...good luck!

Just got off the phone with my service mngr.

1. They "thought" the car was in for tranny - and since the tranny checked out, they ok'd the car for pick up. I called them previous to the car getting dropped off.

2. The service forman said that the random misfire code, he thought he tripped himself and thus didnt think it was an actual problem.

3. They are saying that the problem right now is due to the gas in the tank, creating the misfire/shut off of the engine. I have shell in there no idea why VPower would cause such a thing.

4. They are purging my gas tank and refilling it. And will take it for a ride and check it out.

5. Ill keep you all posted on the outcome of this.

Biggest problem i am seeing now, is the dealer ASSUMING what you are trying to say versus actually listening to what you say is the problem. Its like talking to a snotty school professor who thinks they kno all and u know nothing. Its like OPEN UR EARS AND LISTEN TO WHAT IM SAYING!!!

they had my problem as "hit gas and engine revs like in neutral" my problem couldnt be more opposite than that. Friggin people , cant find good help anywhere.

Update. After a 1/2 hr on the tele with the shop forman:

Mazda is saying its gas, thus denying liability for the service work done and wants to charge me for whats happened. I DONT THINK SO. i got the service charged wiped.

2nd. They maintain that gas is THE ONLY issue here & the only thing responsible for the misfiring. I have said again & again & again how its Shell V Power. They maintain that since the misfiring is a symptom of bad gas, liability is with the owner and thus not covered under warranty. To an extent i can see that IF IT TRULY was the gas. I do not 100% agree because if and when this happens again, they will have another thing coming if they think they will keep charging me for a bad engine & not correctly diagnosing the problem.

I could not get the shop forman to give me anything close to a clear answer about a "what if next time" what is the procedure. He seems to think it was the gas. As much as i disagree with that, who knows. I goto the same shell (new pumps) and put the same V Power in every single time.

I can see this going back n forth. So, i had the shop guy go fill up my car, and drive it around all day yesterday and last nite. Its their tank of gas, and if my car dies and or needs to be flatbedded for the 3rd time in 2 days, its on their watch and their $$. I will not pick this car up till they have cycled thru at least another full tank or 2 fill ups. If they want to play its the gas game, they can keep this car for a week for all i care and drive it until it doesnt have a problem

I waited 3 hrs in 20 degree weather inside a car that wouldnt start because the shop guy said it was fine earlier in the day. They erreroneously reported it was a tranny problem, never addressed the misfiring from the get go (didnt charge me) gave me back a car not fixed, THEN wanted to charge me. 5 Hrs out of my office, 3hrs in no heat at nite, then they want to stick me with a bill, for service which should have taken place from the get go the first time my car arrived by flatbed.

wow o wow

damm i will beat those guys , LOL dealers suck , two months ago i went to me oil change, i told them to check something in the back that was making a noise and to flash the ECU guess what???

they gave me a ride to my hause saying it will take a maximum of 3 to 4hours i said OK, i droped the car at 7am i call them around 12pm, they told me they will call me!!! I wait and finally i got pissed i call aroud 4pm the same story so i went back to the dealer with my cousin in my kia guess what?? They didn't start to work in my car i was like F@#$%%^^& i want to talk to the service manager!!! they gave me $200.00 for parts

ok, you did go to a bad dealer

it sounds to me you have a bad fuel injector... I've seen a few mazdas with the L3-VDT engine (ms6 and cx7 so far) that exhibited the same symptoms you described... on all the ones I've seen, the #1 injector is what's failed

what those "smart" people at the dealer need to do is call mazda technical assistance in order to get approval to replace the injector
