New Intake, now surging

Could be boost leak but I hear the turbo slow down.

Either way, I pulled code P2187, too lean on idle today. I dont really think I'm worried about being lean on idle. Should I be??

People have been getting that code but it should go away after sitting there for a couple minutes. If it continues to progress, i would def take it to the dealer and ask what's up. I don't think they do anything except erase it but who knows.

If your turbo is not spooling under throttle you have something leaking or opening I have tipped in throttle at 55 and she starts to spin but never surge maybe it does at wot. I am probably wrong, but is it possible you had some debris inside intake when you installed? May I suggest return original intake to car and see what that does. Good luck. Don't run it hard till you straighten this out!

I never got this code before I put on the intake so I assume it has to be intake related. I'm going to seal around the actual plastic adapter for the maf itself and see if that helps.

Boost builds I just hear the turbo spooling and then it goes away and does it until the rpms build and then it stays spooling.

Well, I checked all of the clamps, they were all loose, I'm glad mazda decided to use such quality hose clamps (bird) mazda

After reading through the post about the corksport front mount set up I decided to put in the smaller maf adjustment tube (2.5") took it for a drive, no more boost cut or fuel cut whatever it was, turbo stays full tilt all of the time.

Since I did both things at the same time I dont really know which one fixed it.

Either way, the boost/fuel cut/surging or whatever it was is gone. I just hope I my intake is still adding power (due to the 2.5" pipe size, it should flow less now). I'm way tired, I guess I'll see on the drive tomorrow.

Anybody have any thoughts on the 2.62"(stock) versus 2.5"(what I have now) flow difference?

Its got around 20 miles on it now, its not the intake noise that I think is surging, the noise comes and goes loud then quite, its the new intake noise that comes and goes. No other mods.

If I floor it while doing around 50 it'll do it, I guess the boost controller isn't doing its job.

I tried it again today and it did it in 5th and 6th and then later not in sixth. So I guess its just loading the motor up and overboosting then fuel cut?

So.....All intakes do this except the cpe?? Does the cobb?

Glad to hear the Cobb SRI solved the problem. That and a 50/50 were my only mods when I had a similar situation.

I had a similar experience when I was up against an IS 300 on the highway. I got into it at third gear, but then after about 4k in fourth I started getting that back and forth. Didn't have dashhawk then, but it felt like it was going back and forth from like 16psi to 10psi and back. I kept on it, pushed it into fifth and I have never felt that again.

:: scratches head ::

On occasion on other vehicles, it sounds like throttle position sensor. But its been along time since we posted on this one, eh. So how did sri work with your set up, any change in power band or revving a bit quicker? glad the car is treating you right.

Well, the car feels faster with the cobb than my diy with the 2.5" insert (remember I got a cel with the 2.75" insert) and the car seems to run better. It just feels faster everywhere. Either way, I'm happy with the cobb, I got it for $150 shipped on ebay, I can't really complain.

I can floor it from any rpm at any speed and there is no surgiing.
