Motor knocking??

but if we put FMIC kit in our car then we won't be able to take them off to the dealer. will they void the warrenty if they see we have FMIC in our car,

The warranty voiding issue is not so "clean cut". There are a LOT of variables your dealership and Mazda USA takes in to consideration before voiding or granting a warranty repair.

We cannot say "yes its okay" nor can we say "no, you're screwed". My dealership knew I had some mods done to the car previously when my tranny problem came up. However, thank God, it was covered under warranty.

I'd advise re-stocking any car you take to the dealership. This is why it's important to keep all of your stock parts.

If these things have a rod-bearing problem, I'm going to be really pissed.
As for you all that had rod bearing failures, was it the upper or lower rod bearing that went first? If it's the upper, I suspect detonation. It pounds the upper bearing.

My valvetrain makes all kinds of racket. Has ever since I've had it, anyway.
If you want to know if it's a rod bearing, try getting the oil warmed up and then putting one end of a wooden stick or dowel against the oil pan and listening to the other end while someone revs the engine a bit. If it's a bottom end problem, you'll likely hear it that way. I know, easier said than done on a car like the MSP. It was pretty easy on my old T/A.

If it's piston slap on a low mileage motor with cast pistons, something was way off from the factory.

After driving at all hard, my motor makes *ping*.........*ding*...... noises at idle...is this what we are talking about? My dad popped the hood after I ripped over to my parents house and he shook his head, saying "Its brand new and it's already knocking?" *sigh* Oh well add another thing to my laundry list for my annual dealer visit. Time to strip.

i think what you're talking about is the aluminum cooling. you can't really help that, it's normal on any car with aluminum for the block or head

food for thought. Excessive lifter noise is due to oil not getting to the cams, ie low oil. Engine knock is an uncontrolled explosion putting extreme pressure on your rods/pistons, it sounds like your engine is hit with a hammer from the inside. Which is what you should expect from a large explosion inside a metal block.

I kind of get a wierd noise too. But it doesn't go away after it warms up. It sounds like well how to explain it.....

Lets say you have a cup and then you put a fork or something inside of it and start knocking it around. But metalic sounding and really fast. Like a metal fan is hitting something going at a moderate pace.

Does the frequency/timing of the noise vary with your rpm?

This really sounds like the click from either the valvetrain, fuel system, or something in the airbox. This and my last 4 cyclinder had the valvetrain noise even if I used Amsoil though less and my VibeGT also had ticking from the fuel system regulating at idle. It was a returnless system so that noise might not happen in the MSP. Also, the airbox may also have ticking if valves are opening a closing when recirculating air. Ping on the other hand should not happen at idle and small amounts are actually acceptable when accelerating.

Update: I brought my car over to my friends on Sat. to have him take a look. We started the car ice cold and took a listen...he said that it sounds almost like a rod pin(the pin that holds the piston to the rods) and it only happened when we held it at about 2500rpm. After about 2 or 3 min of warming up, the sound went away. Anybody ever hear of something like that before??

My motor sounds nasty from a cold start. Pretty much what you described, once it warms up it goes away. Maybe Ill go by the dealership...

If gasoline engines are built the same way as diesels, your piston pin (or rod pin) is held in place by two circlips at each end and is allowed to move axially (again i'm not taking into account clearances here: it maybe that it is not allowed to move). IF your pin is worn out, the sound should occur at any rpm, and not go away after the engine's warmed up. Also, if the pin is worn out bad you should be hearing the piston tapping the valves or some similar noise....

That's what i can think of for now...
