Maybe you guys could develop a better airbox or just change the bottom half of the stock box (get rid of the ghetto "calloway" snorkal) so it could pull air out of the fender. (Maybe even make it carbon fiber). THat would be really nice.ProPartsUSA.COM said:One thing I forgot to mention.
The Kit includes a new aluminum piping that goes from the Maf sensor to the turbo inlet. It will go the same route as stock.
The Injen CAI will not work. I'm trying to see if our company (Tri-point engineering) will be able to make a intake pipe that will have less bends in it. I won't know that until later on of course. In this version the K&N Cone style air filter that comes with the Injen cai will not fit because the hood is going to hit it. Stock air box is required.
Talking to some people the Stock Air box is acutally suppose to be the best for the car unless of course your getting a cold air source (I.E.) AEM OR injen. I will let you know if we find out anything.
I hope to dyno the car with a custom fitted CAI Injen Extension, w/ Stock air box and w/ K&N Cone style filter.
I was hoping this to but, everything can't be how "we" want it to be so, i think we should just be happy that mazdaspeed is making aftermarket part's for us after all.that's all i'm saying!TiGrayMsp716 said:I think some where hoping that if it was a mazdaspeed part that it would not void the warranty. I'd pay extra for that. Mazda sux about stuff like that so we are just hoping for a reasonable price.
I'm glad they've stopped ignoring us as well....mspeed#267 said:I was hoping this to but, everything can't be how "we" want it to be so, i think we should just be happy that mazdaspeed is making aftermarket part's for us after all.that's all i'm saying!
Evo's and SRT need FMIC they run to high boost to get by without one. They are warrantied because the car was developed with them and sold with them on them. The mopar stage 1 ($1500 LSD & larger injectors + labor)for the 03 voids the warranty but the 04 SRT has that stage 1 on it from the factory for 500 more. That's just how manufacturers work. Also for a lot of companys 40k really isn't much profit. Plus they probably are not selling them direct but thru distributors so you could cut that in half. What if the want to advertise 20k isn't going to get them much avertising.computerGeek said:Evo and SRT come with a FMIC. those are warrentied!!!!
Nissans aren't turbo'd so no way to ask them if they had a Nismo FMIC would it be warrentied.
The problem with FMIC kits is the IC is small and piping is minimal. so cost ESPECIALLY for a vendor who buys in quantity is even less. 200 for IC and 300 for rest thats 500. then you throw in some labor and R&D but that gets spread over each sold. so say you got 1000 dollars in that. that 2 dollars per kit for every 500 sold. so we are looking at 502.00. So say worse case senerio they spend 700 total and sell for 1100 ( and they will it has MazdaSpeed on it) thats 400 profit per unit multiply that by 100 at least and you get $40,000 dollars profit.
WE have the right to b****!!!
Juan is on a business trip to Cali right now IIRC.jurgs01 said:Is there going to be a GB on this? I am really itching for an FMIC that doesn't require any cutting, and Hiboost has disappeared. Really anxious to see pics and dyno + flow #'s. It would be a plus if you could get this to work with the INJEN. I can't see it as being too hard to design and fabricate the pipe for it.
SpicyMSP said:The Proto/Circuit one is the same one as the Mazdaspeed one that they were testing. Same one that was given to propartsusa too. Jeff you probally didnt even know that.
Its the same , because I delivered the proto/circuit one off at Mazdaspeed R&D for testing.. who then gave one to Tripoint.
So you dropped off a total of three then?SpicyMSP said:The Proto/Circuit one is the same one as the Mazdaspeed one that they were testing. Same one that was given to propartsusa too. Jeff you probally didnt even know that.
