I have owned a Toshiba laptop, they make desent computers.
I was always told when I was in tech school that the average life for a laptop is about 2 years and the average life for a desktop was about 4 before you should just upgrade and reformat you hardrive, or just buy a newer computer. I built my desktop about 2 years ago(whenever Intel release the core 2 extreme) and it has been running real stong. The only thing I have had to upgrade was my graphics card. Other than that she runs perfect.
eh... I put over a gig of ram in my laptop, dvd-rw burner, thinking of a wireless n card upgrade as well for the hell of it. After that all i can really upgrade is MAYBE the cpu (havent really looked into it and more then likley isnt worth it.), and HD.
I did all my upgrades on the cheap to... not even 100 bucks invested so far.
