NB1 still problematic - now it's Gracenote update button greyed out

OK, so I know most of you will have found the many problems with the NB1 TomTom Naff infotainment system and moved on by upgrading to alternative head units.

I'd do it like a shot, and even watched some Youtube videos on how to install a replacement.
But I can't find a unit where the manufacturer/seller says that it will work with the steering wheel controls AND the central console knob, supports the factory reversing camera, work with the Bose sound system and factory microphone and voice control and all the other niceties.
There are some very reasonably priced Android 13/14/15 units on Ali Express, but the specs and reviews are suspicious and buying expensive goods from China is always an unknown.....
So I'm open to suggestions of suitable units.

Meantime, it appears there is a Gracenote update, which might at least improve the abysmal voice recognition.
Mazda provides instructions for downloading and installing it, all seem extremely straightforward.
So I've prepared a FAT32 memory stick, gone through the menus and found the "Gracenote update" option. It's not where Mazda say it will be, but hey ho.
Then I go through all the warning screens about not turning off the ignition, pulling the USB stick out, crossing too many fingers or breathing too hard.
Eventually I get to the "Update now" button - and it's stubbornly GREYED OUT.

Trying to read MP3 files from the same USB just reports a USB Error. So I'm back to that shenanigans again.
I'm now on my 5th stick.
Does nothing work with this pesky stereo?

It's seriously ruining my enjoyment of what is otherwise an excellent car.

Solution
After hours of messing about, I finally got it sorted.

Mazda's instructions are just plain wrong.

Instead of Gracenote*.pkg as per the instructions, I needed the file "update.package".
It's about 19Mb, not the 200+Mb file that Mazda tell you to use.

Is it any better? Not much. It thinks "Jamie Webster" is "Jamie Walters".

The information was on the forum, I just needed the correct search terms.
