HUD: Is it worth it?

And that's what Mazda are looking at - people wanting the items and willing to pay for it unfortunately (should be standard)
If we compare the price Mazda North American Operations offered for these two Touring packages, GT's Premium Package definitely is a rip-off. But MNAO believes most GT buyers would be willing to pay premium for the "over-priced" Premium Package:

Touring Preferred Equipment Package (Auto-dimming Rearview Mirror with HomeLink、Automatic On/off Headlights、Rain-sensing Variable-intermittent Windshield Wipers、Bose 10-Speaker Audio Sound System with Centerpoint and AudioPilot Mazda Navigation System、Power Sliding-glass Moonroof with One-touch Open Feature and Interior Sunshade、Power Rear Liftgate) - $780

Touring i-ActivSense Package (High Beam Control、Lane Departure Warning with Lane-keep Assist、Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go、Smart Brake Support、Auto-dimming Rearview Mirror with HomeLink、Automatic On/off Headlights、Rain-sensing Variable-intermittent Windshield Wipers) - $625

Grand Touring Premium Package (2-positio Memory Drivers Seat、6-way Power Adjustable Passenger Seat、Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition、Heated Rear Seats、Heated Steering Wheel、Windshield Wiper De-icer) - $1,830

Add one more vote FOR the HUD and the premium package in general. It was one of the main reasons I went with the GT w/premium and I have been using it (the HUD) every day. Tried out the nav Friday on the way home and this morning on the way to work. The voice command even understood and found the address on the first try!

It was one of the small things that ended up getting me to buy this car. So count me down for a yes vote. In fact, you should only count votes for people who have used it.

I sold my 16 because I'm already accustomed to HUD in my M4. I've grown to rely on it. Won't have another car without it.

Any way to make more $$$

I have the color one on my 17 Mazda 3.

We did not get it on our CX-5.

Is it nice to have: absolutely. Is it absolutely necessary? absolutely not.

Do I miss having it from time to time? Sure... But do I regret not getting it on the CX? No. We're completely happy with the package we purchased but the options may be mixed up different ways in Canada VS US.

Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. However if you have any hint of wanting it I will always suggest you make sure you buy what you're going to be happy with long term because you don't want to be regretting your choice later on.

If there are any other options from the same package that may grow on you other than the HUD I'd say go for it if you're ok with dropping the coin on it.

Surprised how far back the tech goes in the automative sector at least from a development standpoint. I think in jets like late 40's/early 50's.

They left out my 2000 Corvette which has it and I like it!

So roughly $300 per item as an average, which seems ok I guess. I don't really need any of the winter stuff that often but maybe someday I'll fire up that heated steering wheel.

I did today, for s**** and grins (hey, it's raining and got into the lower 70s!). Felt nice and toasty in less than a minute, and after turning it off, went back to normal in about 5 minutes. So, that'll be a nice treat during our annual trek to Arkansas for Christmas.

1800? Do you get anything else for that?

Premium Package
- 2-position memory driver's seat
- 6-way power adjustable passenger seat
- Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition
- Heated rear seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Windshield wiper de-icer

Since I live in a cold weather state the heated amenities are useful. But yes, the HUD, for me, is a must-have.

Personal decision, but an easy one for me. Totally worth it -- comes with other things too like heated rear seats, power adjustable, etc as mentioned before.

I wish it displayed tach when you put it in sport mode though. Maybe they can software update it later on.

Don't think this will happen. Read elsewhere the new CX-9 had tacho but a software update removed it.

That's not bad. We get all that standard but there is a safety pack for about 1000 bucks and radar cruise for another 1000

Is that an option across the entire range or just top tier model(s) (scratch)

The range is split. The ones with the 17 inch wheels are the SE-L Navs and the ones with the 19 inch wheels are the Sportnavs. You can only have the Safety Pack with the Sportnav.

We have no safety pack option here. Akera is the only model that comes with Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go function, Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane-keep Assist System (LAS), Side camera & Smart Brake Support (SBS).

All models have the regular safety features {Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Smart City Brake Support [Forward/ Reverse] (SCBS F/R)} except TSR which is from Touring upwards

HUD is only on GT and Akera.

I got to try the rear SCBS by accident recently. Flippin ek, it comes with a surprise. Try it against a wall if you dare!

Don't need to try it. Already experienced it whilst reversing into my garage!
