HUD: Is it worth it?

The Canadian option package is just all the i-activesense stuff (advanced colour gauge pack comes with this) + satellite radio + HUD. If you're not into the driver aids/safety and don't want the HUD it's no biggie.

All of the stuff in the premium package for the US are already on the base GT. Our Canadian GS + comfort + iActivesense packages we have the same tech package above - minus the HUD and Sat radio. And on the GS we also get the heated wheel and wiper de-icer out of the US GT Premium.

It's just different equipment grouping for different markets and we're quite happy with the equipment layout we were able to get for our driving needs.

Many of these features are climate driven, so it makes sense to break them out in the US where half the country (wild guess) doesn't see snow / ice on a regular basis where we are at least cold-ish for half the year for the vast majority of the country.

That's why it, in our case, was such a huge jump for us to go for the HUD and why we didn't. Not only would we need to up to the GT but we needed to add the tech package on top. The leather, wheels, fancier lighting, Bose was not not a need for us at this time.

Much more simplified option selection in US market.

Even simpler here. No options packages, just get more the higher you go up the model range

Actually it makes more sense for those Packages in Canada. Memory seat and power passenger seat should be standard for top-of-line GT in the US! We don't really need the rest in Texas from $1,830 GT Premium Package mainly for cold climate.

How much does it come out to per month between the Touring and GT? I figured it was negligible enough for me to go for the GT.

Plus I figured I'd "future proof" my wife's car as much as possible by getting all available options.
