If we compare the price Mazda North American Operations offered for these two Touring packages, GT's Premium Package definitely is a rip-off. But MNAO believes most GT buyers would be willing to pay premium for the "over-priced" Premium Package:

Add one more vote FOR the HUD and the premium package in general. It was one of the main reasons I went with the GT w/premium and I have been using it (the HUD) every day. Tried out the nav Friday on the way home and this morning on the way to work. The voice command even understood and found the address on the first try!

I have the color one on my 17 Mazda 3.

We did not get it on our CX-5.

Is it nice to have: absolutely. Is it absolutely necessary? absolutely not.

Do I miss having it from time to time? Sure... But do I regret not getting it on the CX? No. We're completely happy with the package we purchased but the options may be mixed up different ways in Canada VS US.

Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. However if you have any hint of wanting it I will always suggest you make sure you buy what you're going to be happy with long term because you don't want to be regretting your choice later on.

If there are any other options from the same package that may grow on you other than the HUD I'd say go for it if you're ok with dropping the coin on it.

Surprised how far back the tech goes in the automative sector at least from a development standpoint. I think in jets like late 40's/early 50's.

They left out my 2000 Corvette which has it and I like it!

So roughly $300 per item as an average, which seems ok I guess. I don't really need any of the winter stuff that often but maybe someday I'll fire up that heated steering wheel.

I did today, for s**** and grins (hey, it's raining and got into the lower 70s!). Felt nice and toasty in less than a minute, and after turning it off, went back to normal in about 5 minutes. So, that'll be a nice treat during our annual trek to Arkansas for Christmas.

Since I live in a cold weather state the heated amenities are useful. But yes, the HUD, for me, is a must-have.

Personal decision, but an easy one for me. Totally worth it -- comes with other things too like heated rear seats, power adjustable, etc as mentioned before.

I wish it displayed tach when you put it in sport mode though. Maybe they can software update it later on.

Don't think this will happen. Read elsewhere the new CX-9 had tacho but a software update removed it.

We have no safety pack option here. Akera is the only model that comes with Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go function, Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane-keep Assist System (LAS), Side camera & Smart Brake Support (SBS).

All models have the regular safety features {Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Smart City Brake Support [Forward/ Reverse] (SCBS F/R)} except TSR which is from Touring upwards

HUD is only on GT and Akera.

Don't need to try it. Already experienced it whilst reversing into my garage!
