hey all, im getting a VIS OEM replacement hood from FC3s Boy.

a few questions-
i know the hood is 'super' light (just over 10lbs) so what is the fastest i can safely do do you think? What im saying is should i not go 120mph now with a CF hood and no pins ;)

and should i get hood pins for it? i dont really want to drill into the hood, but i like the safety it provides.

I cant say for sure, but I have gone 125 mph with my APC hood.
On several occassions, and everything is fine.

I did notice that when you get around 100 mph the hood tends to vibrate or shake, enough that you can see it. So maybe hood pins are a good idea, but they are so ******* ugly. IMO.

I have hit 130mph with the vis hood with out any problems, If you are worried about it i would get them .

im getting them just for piece of mind during any "spirited" driving

Not a bad idea. Better safe than sorry, but the look just kills me!

Might do some searching around the net. I'm sure someone has come up with an alternitive to the "traditional" hood pins.

yep, better safe than sorry.

ky let us know what you find. i will want hood pins when i get a cf hood, but the usual ones i hate. too bulky and stuff up the smooth lines of the car (imo)

I've done a bit of speeding in my car wiith the DG hood, and I have yet to have a problem so i really don't think you need them. As long as the hood has some structure to it underneath it should be fine.

You might get away with it couple of time, but all the rattling on the hood is gonna be back for the latch.

I seem some really nasty hood pop in freeway..it's just bad.

I have pins on my vis hood too, just to know my hood would flap on me:)

sorry to be a lil' off topic, but i have to ask. how did u guys remove the nuts on the latch ? i've been trying to so that i could add a few spacers for venting. but i couldn't get the nuts to come off ! anyone know what size they are, too ?

Has anyone explored flush mount quarter turn fasteners, e.g. Dzus? They provide the addition bonnet security without being as unsightly as bonnet pins.

I think any hood pins will look fine, except those from autozone...or pepboys...
