Guide: Mazda Firmware Update Information

Hello everyone,

Has anyone ever had this issue? I'm trying to upgrade my firmware from 58.00.250 NA N to 70.00.100A.

I've tried using multiple USB drives now. I also checked the hash tags of the copied files onto the USB, and they all seem to match just fine. I've also tried just jumping to the newer firmware to see if the system will allow that, but I've had no luck.

I have the AIO installed, but one of our expert members here (Candurin who's been very kindly helping me), doesn't seem to think it affects it.

Just wanted to know if anyone has/is going through this issue, and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to resolve this. Thank you!

Does anyone have the 58.00.250 NA N by fail safe by chance?

Thanks to @Candurin for all the help and info in regards to update my car infotainment firmware and I was able to successfully install apple car play and android auto.

Posting this again (refer to attachments), as I seem to get a lot of requests for "how do I do this?":

1. If you are on a FW version below 59.x, then you need to update to version 70.x first.
2. Once you are on 59.x and higher, then you can update to the latest version (74.00.324A)

I am also including the update procedure for all versions (please note I only have the US based firmware for the latest/7th generation Mazda systems).

That's all. Thanks!

Thanks for alll the info provided. I’m just a little confused. The original post said an any version on or above 55.00.650A can update to 74.00.324A directly, and I did see multiple reports online that they directly updated from something like 55.00.753 to 74.00.324A. But now this post says anything below 59 needs to go to 70.x first. So which one is correct?

You can always try to update directly to 74 from 55. But the general consensus is that you need to update to 70 before 74, when you are below 59.

A little feedback from my update process :
Finally got around to doing the update since getting the file last september. Battery voltage was too low at the time, changed it and with the cold, even the new battery showed 12.4V or lower... Didn't tempt the devil on that one, so waited until it was hot outside (+27C right now, feels like +33C)

Overall took around 45 minutes from start to finish on my CX3 2021.
It didn't recognize my new 32GB sandisk USB3 flash drive, but it did recognize an old kingston 8GB from 2010. It was a bit slow copying/processing before the update.
I stayed in the car the entire duration, except for the bits when the instructions said to leave for 3mins cmu sleep (left for closer to 5mins). Pressed the brake a few times during the update process while watching youtube.
Battery (new from january) went from 12.8V to 12.5V. Everything was off. No AC, no fan, nothing. I used the second ACC mode (press start twice without brake pedal), so the dash was illuminated.

For some weird reason, when the update was done and I went to shut down the vehicle... It acted like it was still on. I opened my door and it started beeping at me and the screen was still on. So I pressed Start again thinking I had not powered it off... but that only booted ACC again. OOF. Alright. So I shut it down a second time and this time it worked. Hoping that didn't screw anything up.
Waited the 5minutes away from the locked car and came back. Started in ACC again, waited a minute before touching buttons, then I checked if everything worked.
Version is indeed 324A now (from 74.00.210). Checked other functionality such as bluetooth, radio and what not. Everything still works.

Thanks @Candurin !

Thank you @Candurin and people in this thread for all the help with the updates and giving me the files that I needed! Everything went just like in the guides from start to finish. 😊

I was on version 56, so I had to update twice, first to 70, and then to 74. They took around 40min per update in my 2016 Mazda 2. My car's battery is quite old, but was still holding charge well, so I connected a charger to it while doing the updates just in case, and I think it was definitely needed for the time this all needed to finish!

The updates were really easy to install in the end with the guides, and the only things to remember were to press the brake pedal a couple of times to keep the car on during the update, and to actually walk away from the car with the key for 3 minutes during the setup to let the CMU go to sleep before starting the update (this seemed to be quite common mistake that some people did with their updates so I wanted to mention it!).

And I think the hardest part on my end was to find a USB stick that was small enough to support the FAT32 formatting! 🤣

After the updates I just installed the new USB hub thingy, and everything is working flawlessly with the Android Auto now!

thanks for this @Candurin - update successful!
I was updating from version 59 to 74 - process took about 45 minutes total. I used an old battery and bought a cheap 4GB usb stick for the mission. Happy everything turned out smooth. Now to get the carplay usb from Mazda for my 2018 mazda3 GT!

I just completed this today for my 2018 CX-5 running on 59.00.504. I PM'd @Candurin who sent me links to both files I needed to jump to 70.x and then to 74x. I was very patient and followed the procedure carefully. I'm planning to install my https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) tomorrow.

Thank you for this post and prompt reply to my request for the files!
