Thanks 5padzam She's a 350 Edlebrock 4bbl dual flows. Sadly she's only good for low 15s high 14's and 10mpg. Which is why I need my p5 back on the road. I'd love to put in a set of gauges but I really cant afford the water pump as it is. So even if I verify that it is overheating then I'll have to spend more $ than I have. Every week of driving the Chevelle cost me an extra $50 in gas. If its a water pump it'll be 65.00+tax. Which means its almost cheaper to just dump the $ Into a water pump and know that its fixed. Of course that is assuming that this is the problem. exNeon my first check was all the basics and I agree that the fans can be the culprit. I assumed the fans were triggered by the temp sensor. Because the seem to be working sparaticly. They come on around the time its at just above normal operating temp. But arent nessisarily on when it's maxed out which is why 5padzam sugessted it may be a bad temp sensor or gauge.
