Headlights dim and bright. Why?

:
2002 P5
Anybody know what would cause my headlights to get dim and bright? I only notice it when I am driving, not sitting still. I can't see any pattern or reason. It doesn't change with bumps, a/c or any other electrical device. The battery cables are clean and tight. Any ideas?

maybe have the alternator checked?

Callie's foglights do this, but only when teh stereo is crank'd

Headlights don't as they are HID's

If you haven't got a reasonably new battery it may be dying. Happened to me. The other time it happened the black bulb socket was rusted and loose so I bought a new one, no problems since.

My battery and alternator are strong. Also, it is all of the lights, not just one. I can't figure it out.

my MSP does this a little bit also, has ever since i have bought it. Only really does it at interstate speeds and if i have the AC on. They dim ever so slightly then go back to normal. Never have figured it out.

Mine does the same thing. The lights go dim for 1/2 a second, then back to normal. Something must be drawing current while cruising because if I use the power windows the same thing happens, or if I close the power sunroof they dim for a second. I know if you have the vent on the windshield, even though the a/c button isn't on, I think it really is and this could be part of it, when the compressor kicks on and off. Other than that I can't figure it out either.

If it is only one bulb maybe that bulb is on the way out?

The odd thing is that it is only one bulb, if it were both bulbs I would say something is draining, like power windows, or the AC is kicking on, as everyone else has suggestd. But only one bulb, that is just odd.
