Good service from Sentry West in Shrewsbury

Took my 2002.5 P5 into Sentry West Mazda in Shrewsbury last week. I had gone through 2 sets of rear brake pads in 34,000 miles, while my front pads and rotors look basically new still. I thought there might be a problem, since that seems pretty strange to me, even if there is a slight rear bias.

Anyway, they could have easily said "Sorry, brakes are a wear item, no warranty" and be done with it. In fact, that's what I expected. Instead, they replaced the rear pads AND calipers and resurfaced the rotors, all warranty. Didn't cost me a dime. They gave me a loaner car for the entire time (took 2 days since they had to order one of the calipers).

Just wanted to report a decent service experience.

u know ive herd lots of good things from sentry, and i think ill take my car there next time i have a problem only becaue gallo sucks ass and they are so quick to jump the gun and blame you for any problem that happenes to the car

is that the place down rt. 9 a ways? i stopped there to ask about getting flashed when it first came out and the guy was like "we're usually 2-3 weeks behind on stuff like that, give us a call then." that turned me off from them so i got it where i bought my car, but it's good to know i might not have to drive to ct every time i need something :)

dude, I brought my 2003 P5 to Gallo with 600 miles on it to get the blower motor resistor replaced and they dented my hood! BASTARDS- dont go there for warranty work - they did fix the dents but only after I noticed them that night!

I wanted to kick this thread back up after another good service experience from Sentry.

A couple weeks ago my ABS and brake light came on while driving. No functional problems, just the lights. Next day they were still on. Checked the brake fluid and pads and everything seemed OK. I have 49,900 miles, so only 100 miles left on the warranty! I decided I should probably take it in, just to be sure.

The guy called me and said that is seems the ABS controller went bad. So they were going to replace that, and a couple of the sensors just to be sure. He said it would be there in a week, but they already started the paperwork with the current mileage, so I could drive the car all I wanted and not worry about going over 50k in the meantime. Awesome. They are always great to work with there, and I didn't even buy my car there.

YAY i finally got some work done @ Sentry im so pleased with the way i was treated had a bad day after Gallo tried to cut some crap with me as my wheel locks were torqued WAY to tight and i broke my key, Gallo probably broke thier key, and Sentry broke both of thier Master keys to take the wheel locks off. Long story short they offered to "break" the locks off for me becuase i was getting my new rims and tires put on @ a tire shop. Gallo told me i would have to wait 1-2 weeks to get a replacment key for the lock....Sentry took care of me on the spot and i say good job Sentry ^^ ill be going back there for my service work from now on...

sentry not so hot for me

I live in fitchburg and since the closest maz dealer isnt mazdaspeed, they recommended sentry. Its semi-close to my work so I went.
I made an appt and wanted an oil change due to leaky filter, rear lip reattached and the computer flash checked , since i just got the car.

The service manager told me i had an oil leak, which i said i know, and he showed it to me on the lip. while it was on the way up, and the hood was open he explained that if the oil leak was serious, it wouldnt be warranty work because of the injen intake. i explained he was wrong and that he had to prove the mod caused the problem, as i read on this forum. he insisted that he was write and the issue was dropped once the tech saw the leaky filter.
i then waited 2hours 15 min.
the service guy (non-manager) told me they were done, they computer was fine, the oil was changed and the bumper was suddenly not a warranty issue, WHAT!! I explained how there was a TSB for reattaching the lip, and he didnt care, saying that there were scuffs on the bumper, i must have hit something and so they wont fix it. cost to attach : $180
Even if that was the case, which I cant be horribly sure, what exactly did they do for 2 hours, other than search for something to get them out of a warranty claim ? nothing. I still dont see how hitting something with the lip makes the tape they used any better than junk.
I have ordered the tape and surface prep stuff to reattach the lip myself for $60.

jerks.

screwed again

ok, so i made the mistake of going to sentry west again, since the changed my oil and there was a new oil leak. turns out they forgot the washer on the drain plug. great. oh, and I had requested they change the rear pads, which they apparently didnt have and didnt tell me that until i came to pick up the car, even though i made the appointment 3 days earlier. to cap it all off they broke off my passenger mirror in the carwash, and refused to replace it for free claiming that it must have been previsouly damaged, which it wasnt.

bulls***!

Lol, well i gotta throw my .02 cents in here now, I went there to get my car inspected back in Aug. and they failed me for stupid BS. IE my headlamp covers, and window tint! claiming it was 30 and the limit is 35...no huge difference, not like i have 10's trying to pass. After explaining to them how I got the in FL, and they are 35s ect they acknowlaged that they have had cars from FL with "35%" reading lower then 35, but they still refused to accept my 35's. Not to pleased with them at the moment, the 2 Mazda dealers near me are on my s*** list lol.

Well I dunno much about their service but I went and bought a used car from them and they were VERY easy and VERY truthful about everything!!! When I was buying my speed I went there to see if they could give me the same or a better deal on my speed 6 but they were honest enough to say that they would try. when they could not do it they told me that I should go with my original deal. Also anythime I have brought my sister in law there to drop off or pick up her car they have always hooked me up with a free car wash.

My 2 cents

Anybody else have any resent experiences with Sentry? I might be getting a Mazda5 and they have a few that I'm considering.

Thanx, Glenn |B)

I have not had ood experiances with Sentry or Gallo....The only dealer I would recommend is North End Mazda in Lunenberg.

Gallo:
My father purchased a '01 Miata from Gallo. Right from the start the car was back to the dealer on a flatbed what seemed like a few times due to a problem with the lojack syatem. Then the O2 wire shorted and statred blowing the ECU fuse, in the process of checking that out, they disconnected a series of relays and left them hanging upside. They then filled with water and shorted out a few more fuses. My father had a little rust bubble in the trunk lid that started in the crimp seam under the emblem....he fought tooth and nail to have them honor the warranty, after several weeks they finally elected to honor it. My parents got the survey from Mazda, filled it out and noted the problems. Gallo had the nerve to call my mother at work and flame her because the survey indicated that there had been problems with their purchase. I won't even get into the problems my parents experianced with the Volvo my parents bought from Gallo on the same day as the Miata...

I bought a 2003 Miata from them. At 1000mi, I was notified thru mazdausa.com that I had an open recall to have a metal clip installed over the foglight. I called, made an apppointment, they confirmed my car needed the clip, I took the day off from work. The day I brought it in, the manager was in the shop. He kept giving me hell about not waiting to have the work done until the letter came from Mazda. Fifteen minutes later he had agreed to perform the recall work that I had made an appointment for! Two hours later the clips were installed. I brought the Miata home, put it on ramps to do an oil change and noticed that the echs never installed the bolts for the air diffuser panel under the car so it had been scraping all the way home. I tied it in place, went back, thirty minutes later it was put back together. Got her back home, put it on ramps and noticed that they used bolts of verying size to reinstall the plate, NONE of the bolts were original. So I stopped going there, the service department began calling me almost monthly on my cell phone about the survey following the work. I refused to call them back so they started to call me in my office during the business day. I ended up speaking to the sales and service managers and having myself removed from the mailing list. Negative survey.

Sentry:
After that fiasco I decided to try going to Sentry when the snaps from the rear parcel shelf started coming off when the tonneau cover was on. Sentry took the car in and installed the item but they didn't put the soft top retaining plate or the frame straps back on and the sound deadening material was all crumpled and folded up under the new carpet. I brought it back in and they installed the plate and straps but didn't completely fix the carpet. So, I pulled the new carpet out myself to find that Sentry used an razor to simply cut the lions share of carpet out of the parcel shelf and installed the new stuff right over the left over chunks....no wonder it wouldn't lay flat. A snap popped off the new parcel shelf carpet a week later and they refused to do anything for me. Mediocre-negative survey.

North End Mazda:
I then brought my '03 to North End Mazda for the clutch shudder TSB and mentioned the carpet. They took the carpet out and brought it to an upholsterer. They paid to replace all of the snaps with reinforced units. No more problems with the snaps. The pulled the tranny and replaced the clutch in a day with no problems. Service was great, happy as a clam...perfect survey report.

North End has my business from now on...I don't care that I have to drive an hour to get there...they can't afford to make mistakes they are too small.
