my friends bro tried to drift in his moms 91 corolla and smashed it into the side of a hill. damn kids think that because they saw a corolla drift in initial d, they can do the same in their parents cars. damn that awsome series

There was a Civic that won a drift competition here in VA recently. You have to be a VERY talented driver to drift a fwd car. It's possible, just not to common to most yet.

Here's a small clip. This isn't nearly as close as the best FWD drifting that I have seen, but it's close enough.

This one is a lot better
that car obviously has a completely different suspension setup with different tires for a good drift setup, and if you watch hes LOCKING the ebrake ALOT, thats the only way to drift like that, imagine the wear on his break pads?

also, your car has to have a good amount of power to do that, just wanted to let people know, im pretty sure that civic was turboed also.

all excuses made...you can drift a FWD car.

yea, but i wouldn't attempt it unless you have alot of money into the car for a "drift" setup like that guy had. And that is the 1st ive seen someone drift a fwd car and make it look good(aka a real drift)

let me rephrase, thats the 1st time ive seen that on dry ROAD(pavement)...i have drifted a fwd on DIRT but thats completely different....

The FWD that won the drift competition here in VA wasn't all done up with loads of money dumped into it. He was just an extremely good driver.
I wish I had his skills.

what car was he in? any vids, id like to see more fwd drifting...
I'm almost positive he was driving a Civic, but I do know it was a FWD car that won. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics or vids. It was small and setup like how autocross is done. It wasn't a huge event, but he did beat several RWD cars including 240s.

I'll try to see if I can locate the flyers for that and see if I can find pics.

Super Street did an article on drifting a few years back, and had a little part explaining drifting in a FWD car. What did they use?? A 4th gen Civic hatchback. That video of Japanese hatch was just awsome. That car definately had some balls to be able to keep it in a slide as long as it was.
