Cylinder head install question

I wanted to know what socket did you use to install your APR head studs with? The problem of course is the clearance of getting a deep socket to fit on the star nut that APR provides. Hope this makes sense to the ones that have done a built motor and can give me some insight

I am about to go get a 1/4" deep socket at sears cause what I have on hand is not clearing.

thanks!

a 1/4" will NOT be able to handle the torque without breaking
there are special thin wall sockets by the *real* (aka expensive) tool companies

the only other thing you can do is buy a cheap ass socket and then having it ground down... this is what I ended up doing when I built my friend's CA18DET... used a bench grinder to slowly thin the socket out

eek. So a thin wall 3/8" socket won't clear huh? So who or where can I get the special thin wall socket that would clear?

Maybe I will just revert back to the stock bolts since I don't plan to run more than 15psi.

I ended up getting a 3/8 drive 12 pt. 1/2" deep socket @ Sears and it did the job. Cost $4 for the socket.
