Another turbo P5 thread...

Slight updates...

Got my Protege Garage intake manifold, woohoo!

Now I am just waiting on head bolts and the Cometic head gasket before putting the motor back together. I'm afraid of waiting for the Cometic head gasket, so if it won't arrive here this week I'll just get a stock one :(

Today I plan on finally finishing up the Microtech wiring.
very nice man. get that s*** done. glad to see things going your way..check my thread, for bad updates...(eyeballs)

son of a b****

Good--Cometic gasket will be here Wednesday

Bad--I ordered the wrong size. Stock thickness, maybe bigger bore. Double d'oh.

I really really wanted to get the motor back together and in this weekend-ish...

I'm cursed. And/or retarded. Slightly both I think.

ITS IN!!!

The motor, that is. Oh man my wiring is such a mess :( I still need to hook up a fair amount of stuff, put the axles in, fill fluids and bleed lines. Then fab up the IC piping. Definitely a good deal of work left... but slowly making progress.

This is such an exercise in futility

Redoing the oil drain line has proven to be frustrating to say the least. The line is so short that with the fittings mounted on the turbo and upper oil pan, they are almost touching. O_o And of course the rubber hose stuff isn't that flexible, plus I don't want any kinks. I'm going to try a 90* fitting on the upper pan instead of a 45*, hopefully that will fix things.

The thing is, I couldn't have done the return any differently. The fitting has to fit at a certain place on the upper oil pan as it will hit the AC condenser. So damn AGGRAVATING!

I got the radiator back in with the new fans, hooray, it looks sexy. I took off the intake manifold to hook up some stuff and try to reroute some wires. Le sigh. One step forward, two dozen backwards.

Well I hope it all starts coming together soon.
Your troubles are making me nervous.
I only have 2 weeks set out for the install, before classes start.
Good luck.

Just make sure you have every thing you need, and don't break the tee in your block ;) :D :P

Did you go with an intercooler kit? MSP SMIC or something else? That would help a ton. That and an MSP ECU, this would be pretty dang easy.

I have the old HiBoost FMIC kit.
But I have an auto(blarf) so I cant use the MSP ECU, I have an MPI.

Yeah I already tried once to install and tune the MPI and it didnt go very well, I lost a coil and never found out if it was cause of the MPI or cause it just died.
Although I learned how to use it, of course I never got it tunned since I was running on 2 cylinders.

Well I suppose I'll update

So I had a cool oil leak: http://www.khaosman.com/gallery/whygodwhy/DSC09695

AWR is sending me a new oil pan, so hopefully that will be here soon.

Tomorrow I'm going in to the Mazda dealership and getting my lower control arm, I had them press the dust seal on it. It will have been three days, it better be freaking done. I gave them the LCA, the seal, and the page out of the manual showing the installation. I figured I'd wait while they did it... but not so much.

Intercooler piping is almost done, I just need a 45* coupler or something, depending how I want to do it. Maybe I can find one in town, maybe not. I'm hoping the cold side won't interfere with the foglight... it'll be hacking time if it does :D

Other than that, tidy crap up, get LCA back and on, put axles in, and fill fluids. I'm probably going to have to redo my oil return line with the new oil pan, not to mention remove the turbo for the ump-teenth time. And clean and re-RTV the pan for the way 31st time.

Anyyyyyyways, it is actually getting closer. Oh and I got WRX 440 injectors, put those in (thumb)

cool, you're getting there! hey, pic 3 & 4...what nam i looking at connected to the down pipe?

Yep, slowly but surely. That is my EGT sensor, I didn't really feel like drilling and tapping the dang cast iron manifold...

I got my new oil pan just a little bit ago, woohoo! I had to order a new LCA  (pissed) but at least it will be here Thursday. I also ordered a 45* coupler as I couldn't find any locally. That should be the last of the parts needed. It better be damnit!!!

I did some work on it today, nothing major. I can't get the freakin' Magnaflow exhaust apart (I won't be using it), it is slip-fit design but thanks to good ole winters and salted roads, it is no longer a 3 piece cat-back, but a 1 piece pain-in-the-back.

I guess I should start paying attention to your build since I'm getting ready to undergo the same thing in a week or so.

Nah I wouldn't, my build contains all sorts of bad mojo. (stash) You should start a thread too. What are you going to do for EMS?

I suppose I'll throw in an update too. I got my new LCA and the coupler I needed. On Monday I took off my old oil pan and the turbo/manifold as that was in the way. I didn't get around to any thing yesterday, went looking at big trucks with my friend who is thinking about getting one for his job.

Today I'll get the new oil pan on and some other junk, let the RTV cure. Hopefully Friday I can try to crank it... I'm going to cry if it doesn't start.

MSP ECU for now. I'm not looking for huge HP #s so it should keep me satisfied for a while. I'm actually kind of curious to see what it will do with my ported head.

Boooo MSP ecu. Actually those are nice because plug n play = ftw
soldering = me scared my car won't start

Anyways the oil pan is on and cured. Today I got the new LCA on, got the old exhaust off (bought a torch w00t), and tried to put the driver's axle in but I was having trouble. I think it'll be easier with help from a friend because it is awkward. Also because I'm a newb at the axle.
