instead of mounting a big ass intercooler on the front of the car and running big pipes/cutting the car to fit said pipes, you put a big ass water radiator up front, a smaller heat exchanger and short length of pipe in the engine bay where it fits, and use water to move the heat instead of relying soley on air. at the end of the day you are still using air to cool the water, but radiators are much more efficient and cooling water than intercoolers are at cooling air. a really bit water to air intercooler system could possibly cool charge air to ambient or just above with a very high flow rate of water. or you could run an icebox as some racers do ect.
its more complex in that it requires an active means of moving the heat "a pump for the water" but it gets rid of the very long piping mess of most intercooling systems. its very common on mid-engine cars. less on these kinds of cars, i just want it to keep a clean install.
the system i want to build uses a 31x8x3.5 radiator in place of the intercooler and the actual heat exchanger fits where the stock airbox would go. just two short aluminum pipes connect that to the turbo/throttlebody. bov would be flanged directly to one of the heat exchanger tanks. very small and clean.
you should put the grill back in... the car just looks incomplete without it and it doesnt restrict very much air at all.
