I got rip by a member on this board (122 Vega) in buying is used AFC; it never worked as my car is running lean at idle and in "no boost", so Im looking for another one.

If someone has one for sale let me know!

Thanks

lean as in your wideband is reading higher airfuel ratios than 15.0 at idle and cruising out of boost?

Are you sure this isn't something wrong with the map your running?

Believe me guys I tried everything that is humanly possible! I re-uploaded the map many times, put the right settings for "over pressure" and others, checked wiring! I even tried the unit of my friend in my car and it worked great. When idling, the AFC should not even be affecting the fuel ratio!

When I say lean, I mean the light staying in the red section of my N/B AF gauge. Not to mention the car bucking and wanting to stall hehe!

Im not the kind of guy who would go out there and accuse anyone of something, but the unit I bought is mal-functionning and the seller doesnt wanna do anything about it. I bought it from him last summer but never got to install it until last month. This thing dont break if they are keep in their box. Anyway, bottom line is that 122 Vega doesnt want to return my money back. So I got rip! Anyone who will buy from him in the future should be warned.

And now I still need a new unit... A working one if possible this time ;)!

somthing similar happened to me, except my afc made my car run crazy rich at idle/all the ******* time. something with the voltages was wrong.

does it at least work when in boost? because if so a pressure switch to enable the afc (in boost) could be rigged.

It seemed to when I first tried it, but when I realized I was running lean at idle, I didnt wanna risk running my speed in boost after that hehe! The acceleration seemed a lot smoother from what I remember thats for sure!

What is that pressure switch that youre talking about? Do you mean a switch to switch between the AFC output in boost and bypass it when not in boost?

What did you end up doing with your AFC and your rich problem? Did you resolve it?

Thanks for your help by the way :)!

lol, funny story, dsm convert offered to exchange my malfunctioning unit for a new one. but i took off the car and was soo pissed at the time I dont remember where i put it.

so i basically lost it. problem fixed.

You should contact dsm convert, if you havent already I though afc has lifetime warrenty, does the A/F gauge work normal when the afc is unhooked, also there is two pink and blue wires maybe you wired it wrong, If it worked on different car maybe you pcm is f#cked, swap his in your car and see if thats the problem.

Already contacted DSMConvert and the warranty is only offered to the first buyer... bulls*** if you ask me! Also, he is not responding to my email anymore because I assumed that in some case, some unit that he was selling might be mal-functionning just like mine!!! Didnt do nothing to him, but he's just pissed at me because my unit isnt working and I wanted to take advantage of the lifetime warranty, which is not true because it applies only for the first buyer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My A/F gauge works fine when the AFC isnt isntalled and like I said my car is bucking and wants to stall so that has nothing to do with the my A/F gauge.

As for the pink wires, I did try to invert them just in case but the car would not even start. I triple checked all the wiring and everything is great.

My PCM is fine, again, like I said, I tried the AFC of my friend in my car and it worked great with my PCM! Its the AFC unit that is mal-functionning. The problem seems to be coming from the MAF output: the voltage must be f#cked or something.

I still appreciate the fact that you guys are trying to help me :)!

Thats what where here for bro. MSP stand up!

Altho, If DSM convert couldn't help you with the settings, then I doubt any of us can.

good to know about the lifetime warrantee tho, whenever I find my AFC I still need to get it fixed.

Find someone in you area that has an AFC and get them to send it in saying its there's,basically its fraud but hey if he wont respond to you.(protest)

I guess that could be an option. The situaton still f#cking sucks though... all I want is a working unit. Summer is short up here. Service like that is just crap. I would have expected a lot more from DSMConvert after reading a couple posts from him on this board.

Anyway, I'm still looking for another one to buy while I figure what I can do with the broken one, so if anybody has one for sale, let me know :)!

Thanks for everything guys!

I'm surprised DSMConvert has posted in here, he struck me as pretty upright guy. he certainly was more than helpful to me when i had problems.
