Hey, well I've decided to go with mazda, but they don't seem to be very negociable on the price...as it stands I'm looking at $531 for a sedan gt with gfx and leather that's on the lot, or $507/mon for a sedan gt gfx with cloth...
This includes $-4000 equity on the trade-in( stupid saturn), and grad discount ($600)...both for 60 months at 5.65%

...for those of you in the sates, I'm talking canadian dollars this doesn't include any sort of protection pkg, extended warrenty...nothing extra yet, just the car plus taxes, freight, dealer fees.

however, there was a different dealer that does "1 price for the car" that was $502/month for gt,gfx, cloth, that included protection package, all sceduled maintenece(from owners manual) for the first 36 months, taxes freight, etc. but didn't take the trade into account which is gonna set me back $4000 so I'm think the payments would be about $580/mon...

both of whihc seem high to me, but it's not like I'm gonna find better, so I'm trying to figure if I can get one them to ~$525/mon for a gt gfx with protection pkg, and trade-in...cloth of leather doesn't matter to me, it's jus the idea of having to wait possbily over a month for the cloth, vs. driving the leather off the lot tomorrow...hehe

any idea of if this is good/bad/ok?...what are other ppl in canada paying?

I pay $376USD ($512CAN) a month for my MSP, which cost $19,000US ($25800CAN) + tax, title, and DMV fees. 60 months at like 5.5% interest.

Seeing as how you have $4000 negative equity, I would say you're getting a decent deal.

I also wouldn't bother with an extended warranty or protection package or anything like that. Not worth it IMO

well I live in Alberta, and drive in winter, when theres snow, water, and salt on the roads...I'd like something to help prevent or at least reduce the amount of rust and such that could potentially infect my new car...I like the 3 and plan ot drive it for some time...hehe

I also drive my car in the snow, probably not as much snow as you get there, but it's still a decent amount. And my state is very salt-happy...drive for 5 minutes and your car is covered in salt spray.

As long as you take care of the car, and wash the undercarriage in the spring every year, you should be fine. I'd rather take the time and prevent something from happening, than paying for insurance to take care of it when it does.

You should not be negotiating the payment of the car you should be negotiating the price. Then once you settle on the price of the car tell them what you have in the Saturn. NEVER tell them about your car until you negotiated the price of their car. I have bought 10 new cars in my life and this has never failed me. good luck dude.

1. tried that, the mazda dealers here in town don't budge on the price of the vechil b/c "it's the # 1 selling car in Canada", and in there minds that means they don't have to b/c they are selling so good...

and

2. went to a different mitsu dealer and worked out a deal for a Ralliart that included the sun & sound, an aftermarket alarm w/ remote starter, 7 window tint, and took into account the trade - equity all for over $60/month less...so it's back to RA

Have you tried the "build your own" option on www.mazda.ca ? It states the MSRP + taxes and calculates your monthly payments. Admin, license and freight etc. is excluded. IMO, stay away from Mitsu right now because of this: http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77414 .

Yeah, I've done the website "build your car"...it works out to about the $484/month for 60 months for the gt w/ gfx ...that's without freight, pdi, dealer admin fees, the negative trade-in....so it works out that I'm paying a good $550/mon no matter what I'm looking at (mazda or mitsu), actually more at mitsu b/c they span it out to 84 months...

It's rediculous, yeah I could afford that payment, but then insurance is another $270/month so that I'm dishing out $800/month for a fricken car...that's insane

It comes down to do that, or sucking up the fact that I don't like my current car, but that it's what I'm gonna have to keep untill I can get it decently paid off...hopefully quickly b/c I'm planing to double up the payments.

Why not look at something slightly used?

With my P5, new it was probably 16-17,000.

I bought it with 15,000 miles on it for $10,500. Is it really worth the $6,000 for a "new" new car? Unless you're really set on a Mazda3....

I like the new 3 a lot better then the protege. As well, it would be my first "new" car...that and even looking at some used vechiles I'm looking at paying way more then they are worth b/c of the s*** trade-in...should've just stuck it out with my merkur until the tranny actually died..who knows, it may have lasted until now and then I wouldn't be in this situation... (poke)
