What kind of mpg are you guys getting?

that's just under 21 mpg....so yeah....i agree with friction, it's not good.

I have not idea why I get such bad milage. Is there something I need to look into?
I have a short ram intake, maybe something bad about the filter?

Using the sport shift mode will probably reduce mileage unless you drive like a granny anyway. Letting the auto tranny do its thing will result in the best mileage but either way it won't be as good as a manual tranny.

I had an AT P5 before I traded it for a manual...while my mileage is better now, it was never near 21MPG w/the AT. I only used the tiptronic mode sparingly, though.

thats low....i have been getting 26-27 on some fast highway trips. i believe we have the winter gas up here in MA now and that hurts milage by about 5% or more. i got one 26.79 MPG with astral driving between 80-95 going up to greg's last weekend. i was not driving fast enough for him so i let him drive.......

hmm, ~350 miles to the tank last 3 fillups, maybe i should check my tire pressure.
just a short ram intake. very hilly highway though

Gas lights used to come on at around 320 miles now it's around 370 miles when the light goes.

I have a 2002 Red P5, manual txm,.... I average 26-28 mpg, and on a rare occasion i'll see up to 40mpg. That's usually on the highway, under the right conditions. It depends on if I'm driving into the wind,... the barometric pressure, etc...

I love the winter. Ive been averaging around 28 my last 3 tanks since I stopped using the AC.

Terrible MPG

I'm about to ditch my 2002 P5 (took delivery 2/5/02) over my mileage. It's getting to be atrocious.

I don't push the car, I basically use it to commute back and forth to work during the week and go have fun on the weekends. This is my last 10 fillups:

date total mi miles gallons price place MPG
12/15 40440 296.4 13.1 2.11 si 22.6
12/29 40677 236.5 12.4 19.1
1/5/05 40977 300.2 12.5 2.03 si 24.0
1/11 41226 249.1 10.7 1.71 nj 23.3
1/22 41491 264.6 13.6 1.99 si 19.5
1/29 41758 266.9 12.7 1.99 si 21.0
2/7 42027 269.3 12.4 1.99 si 21.7
2/17 42256 229.3 12.4 1.99 si 18.5
3/2 42493 236.2 12.6 1.99 si 18.7
3/15 42707 213.7 13.4 2.03 si 15.9

As it is I run the tires at 35 psi and I take the car in for regular fluid and filter changes per the manual. Are there any ways to squeeze more mileage out of this car, or is it time to sell and buy a Civic instead?

Damn, I can't remember the last time our gas prices were under two dollars.

how fast do you drive it? i've been playing around with the mpg's for various speeds. i notice that when i drive it like a grandma on the highway (55mph) i get about 28mpg. at 65mph -> 25mpg, 75 mph -> 23.5mpg roughly. so you dont necessarily have to push it hard off the line, just the constant highway speed isn't made for current day gas conservation.

32.17. Tanked up yesterday. 446.5 miles on 13.881 gallons. Can't complain. About 85% of my driving is at 70+ and I push it aggressively. I'm consistently over 31++.

Mods: Injen CAI, Magnaflow CB, 60mm TB, ECU reflashed to MP3 spec, Denso Iridiums, rr-Racing UDP. 110 whp, 122 wtq dynoed.

RichMP--You, brother, have major problems.

I use this car to commute to work and to get to local hangouts with friends on nights and weekends. So, I'm rarely seeing 75 mph anyway. The split is about 1/3 parkway/expressway, 2/3 city. However the highway is generally between 10 and 45-50 mph. If I'm lucky once in a while I can take a short stretch of the parkway at 80 or 85 to release stress, or if I'm coming home from somewhere late at night I'll do 70 (that's 20 over the limit here). So you figure on an average tank of 240 mi, there's 80 mi highway (maybe 15 of which are at 65+ mph), 160 mi city.

Now before you say, "DUH! You're doing too much < 55mph driving", I used to work in the City a few years ago, commuting in a 1989 Honda Prelude, and I was getting 30 mpg. Even when my boss had me drive within Manhattan going 10 mph everywhere I was getting 27mpg. The kicker is the Prelude had a lower EPA mileage rating than the Pro5.

Wow, that's really awesome. I'm assuming you never hit traffic eh?

On my last tank I got 31.7 mpg. I mostly do highway, but I get on it while in the city. I keep it under 4500 rpm usually though. I.e. I don't really worry about saving gas.

I noticed the mileage improved after installing the MS axle-back (improved by about 1 mpg :)).

PS: it's an M/T

I was getting about 25mpg on my turbo MP3. But tonight I installed a 10:1 disc on my Vortech and removed the 12:1. So I am curious to see how it affects the mileage. Hopefully not too bad, gas is getting expensive again.
