What have you done to your P5 today?

i got everything on mine except the stupid center bolt. it wouldn't go through the left side. i could get it through the right side but not the left. idk what else to do. i guess i'll jiggle more tomorrow and if that doesn't work idk. if the front is 40 good God i hate to see how much the rear would be
I priced the rear also, since I am planning to proceed with the rear inserts once the fronts are broken in. IIRC, it is well under $100. Like $80 or something.

For me it's well worth the money if they do it right. I like working on the car and everything, but there is stuff I'm just not comfortable touching, so I probably shouldn't.

Hm... your situation is interesting because people say you don't normally have to jack up the motor to get the front done.

i know. idk what to do. i am gonna try on my driveway which is inclined, if not i'll put the front on jackstands i guess and hope it is enough to rock the engine back so the hole lines up. we'll see

Even $100 is worth it to have the rear MM done, it is a pita especially if you don't have the tools.

put a bfs (big fracking screwdriver) in the hole and try and wedge it

i thought about it. i tried my lil (thin) screwdriver and was like...nah it will break. i wasnt at home when i did it so tomorrow i'll try that as well :) thanks for the tip

well i finally got it in. it's makin that noise again that it was b4. it's kind of like a groaning noise. (kinda like an auto sounds like if you release the brake a little but not all the way how it makes that initial noise, at least my mom's van does.) i think it's the other mounts having the movement thrown on them now and they are already going out. since the front is locked in it's throwing the movement around to the other putting too much on them. reasons why i think this:

*if i accelerate slowly, no noise
*if i start off normal in 1st gear it makes the noise, and if i accelerate hard in 2nd it makes the noise.
*if i granny drive it, it doesn't make the noise

i think it was such a pain b/c the other mounts aren't squaring the engine up like they should so it was hard to get this one in. maybe the other's will be a lil easier since the front is squared up now. it's nice to be able to drive w/o the car jumping forward everytime i stick the clutch in. can't wait to get the others in. i might take it somewhere to get the rear in, idk if i am comfortable taking that much stuff apart

This is the dealer you're referring to (charging the $100) I assume? Just be careful with that. When I was getting quotes on the rear mm, I called the dealer as well and their quote was "book time says one hour" so yeah like $80-100. Sounds great BUT if they break a bolt, etc, that's extra time that you have to pay for - which could end up being a little or a lot more than 1 hour. I wasn't willing to chance it and get a $200+ bill when I went to pick up my car.

Luckily my regular mechanic quoted me one hour firm (even after I brought the how-to in so he could see what he was in for - doesn't work on Mazdas much) and stuck to it. I just had mine done when I replaced my clutch, something I'm sorry I didn't do 2 years ago.

yea i wanna find a mechanic that can do it. we'll see. if i have someone do it i am gonna make sure if they say 100 it's 100 regardless of whether or not he screws up and breaks a bolt or rounds off a nut etc

i found out my protege is leaking something today.....idk what. but im not happy about it.
and i also found more damage from my accident, so when i take it to the body shop i can only fix so much, not everything....today is a bad day for the protege

Damn...well I'm still interested in your cluster if you buy one. Now that I have the Alpine I want to look into swapping to red lighting.

I'm glad you got that bolt in! It does sound to me that the noise is the other mount or noise from stuff hitting due to movement.

Yep, it's the dealer. Thank you for the warning!

I was just thinking the other day about these rims! I do not think I have seen them on a P5 yet (drinks)

PS: I got my front inserts installed (well, not by myself :(). I will post a thread outlining my impressions, even though there are probably too many threads like that already.
