What have you done to your P5 today?

It's really not that hard - you technically don't even have to lift the car off the ground. Sounds like you broke the little clip that hold the bumper under the headlight.
yea the plastic that is attached to the headlights that the bumper bolts to is broken on both sides, and the clips under the headlights are broken as well. about the only things keeping my bumper from comin off while i drive are the fog lights and hood.

Thanks. Glad you found the loose lug early!! Did you check the others? hehe

Yeah, I checked the others. One of the front ones needed a little turn, but when I was washing off the PS wheel the damn lug almost fell right into my mitt! Crazy thing is I had previously washed the rims on Saturday and it wasn't loose then.

Will recheck them all again tomorrow morning when I get to work.

How in the hell did your front lip not get scraped off?(based on avatar pic)

Heh, my avatar pic is the best example of a slanted driveway leading to the road. Trust me, I'm sitting at stock ride height...as seen here... (I'm on the right)

I would recommend checking them. Two of my lug nuts went missing on my front passenger side wheel. Scared the piss outa me, but luckily I was able to limp home without catastrophic results.

Hmm loose lug nuts? Did you hand tighten them or use air tools? Someone could have loosened the lugs trying to steal the wheels,
I saw that happen once.

A friend of mine bought a raised truck that had been sitting in front of a yard for a couple weeks and drove it that night. He was testing the 4x4 in a field when the property owner showed up and gave chase. We were going around a turn while also going over a hill and as we went airborne the front right tire came off. The truck landed on the spindle and we slid off the road into someones yard. We were lucky we didn't roll it. I wish someone had been in the yard with a videocamera, it would have been quite a shot.

my front and rear mounts should be here today. i found a how-to on the rear so hopefully this weekend i can tackle that. i need to get some flex sockets first. I think i have everything else i need :)

a week today since my baby's been driven... :( it'll be another 10 days before she moves (on vacation)

can anyone tell me what the emissions laws in PA are? i still have the second cat (first replaced by the OBX), but i'm just curious if my baby would be illegal there...

http://www.dep.state.pa.us/aq_apps/emissions/test.htm

This is the law in my county:

Emission Test Results
The following tests may be required for your vehicle:

County: York
Year: 2003
Vehicle: Car
Tests: Onboard Diagnostics and Gas Cap Check
Note: Brand-new vehicles and vehicles driven under 5000 miles annually may qualify for an exemption sticker. Ask your service provider for more details.

Disclaimer: Gasoline-powered motor vehicles with a model year of 1975 and newer with a GVWR of 9,000 pounds or less and registered in an I/M county or region are subject to an emission inspection. Actual test requirements based on make and model, drive system, vehicle weight, etc. The regulations in Title 67 Pa. Code, Chapter 177 shall determine the test type for any individual vehicle.

....Also the check engine light is not allowed to be on.

Mine were just tightened with hand tools so my theory is that someone started trying to steal a wheel then noticed the lock nuts and left.

My brother lost a wheel on his bronco earlier this year on the freeway. Sept in his case the luggs didnt come loose the bolts SHEARED OFF. Nobody is quite sure how that managed to happen but with the amount of rust on that truck and the kind of off-road abuse it gets I'm not all that surprised it happened more surprised it didn't happen while he was jumping it like you're friend.

i tried the front mount today and i couldnt get the hole to line up w/ the bracket. it wasnt showing enough of the hole to get the bolt through. i tried jacking the engine up a little but it took the frame w/ it so that didn't do anything. any tips?

How in the hell did you get the bolt off the front mount (meaning the bolt that is horizontal). There is so little space to work, I could not get it loose.

Um, take it to the dealer and shell out $50 :D

Big breaker bar man! I'm pretty sure you could pull on the bar from above the car if you wanted. Otherwise just jack it up decently high and go to town underneath it.

If you think that one is bad, try the rear motor mount :D

stuck the ratchet on the nut, stuck the 32 in long pipe over the ratchet and pulled. worked like a charm :-) take the intake off btw= more room. the pipe stuck above the engine bay.

Lol, guys, thanks for the replies. Conceptually, the front mount is easy, and I tried both from underneath and from the top, also used PB blaster on the bolt.

I finally decided not to screw with it in my driveway because I sensed I would break something and that is bad, because I depend on this car every single day. I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow to get this done.

*reaches for flamesuit* (sssh)

Mine said they would. I'm just getting inserts done for the front. The service guy was really cool and told me about the Talon he's working on.

He totally knew what I was talking about with the inserts, so I am confident in his understanding of this stuff.

Edit: front mount is something like 40-some bucks in labor.

i got everything on mine except the stupid center bolt. it wouldn't go through the left side. i could get it through the right side but not the left. idk what else to do. i guess i'll jiggle more tomorrow and if that doesn't work idk. if the front is 40 good God i hate to see how much the rear would be
