What have you done to your P5 today?

yep. the washer is still.. yet the shaft spins freely.

I think at almost 82k miles, with three rochester winters, and this being the fourth time I've had my suspension apart like this, they've just given up on life. Luckily on the other side, the washer gave up when I was tightening it back down, and I managed to get it pretty tight.

Yeah - that flat spot rounds off pretty easy (ahem). Do you have a tap/die set? I had to slightly angle the washer and "wedge" it in the threads to get things apart last time. I chased the threads with a die and got them back into shape. I small triangle diamond file (and a good amount of patience/time) will get the same result.

Was it on your MSP or your pristine P5?

Yeah angling the washer felt like it was doing something, but it wasn't fruitful. (headshake)

the thing is, I knew last time I had my suspension apart (maybe 9 months ago) that the washers were getting rounded off, but I need to start writing these things down because I never remember. Or maybe I should just know that with the environment my Protege5 is driven in, I need to replace at least 50% of the nuts, washers, bolts, bushings, etc that I have to touch while doing any mod.

And yeah, I have a tap/die set, but it's the washer that is rounding off, not the shaft (at least that's how it was on the passenger side).

Nope - but I still have a set of NIB McGards that I can hook you up with for $20 + shipping: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2709201&postcount=1

that's a good deal.. I think retail on the nuts (4 per wheel, assuming wheel locks used) is like twice that.

I have mcgards, but not their "tuner" lugs, just ones that manage to fit with my wheels. they use a 3/4" socket instead of the 21mm stock stuff, but the wheel locks I bought (also mcgard) use the 21 still.. it's annoying when putting the wheels on or taking them off.

On the P5, around the 3rd time I pulled things apart ... and I need to do it one more time. The only logical fix is to pick up some OEM pieces ... I should probably do the same to save myself a headache.

Car show? what car show? (scratch)

All p5's came standard with foglights. I lost my fogs when I put the 2003.5 msp lip on my p5 - the msp lip makes the fog holes a little smaller, and thus I had to ditch my fogs.

Opps, my bad, I got your engine pics mixed up with bazooka joes pics.(dance)

Hey Patrick, are those just the lug nuts? Are those better than the Gorillas I have on mine now?

Yeah, you'de be getting 20 triple chrome plated lugs and a neato installation socket - They are argueably the best out there. The came with my PIAA's but I ended up getting some spline-drive lugs. Summit has 'em for about 3X more - just trying to hook a brotha up and make some space.
