What have you done to your P5 today?

Too much hp in a front wheel drive car makes about as much sense as taking a prostitute to dinner. Spend a **** ton of money to get you absolutely nowhere, and for no reason.

which is y when i do build i'm only shootin for 350whp.. n then a new project ;)

I mean to make 165whp with an FS-DE reliably would be tough and without a daily headache. How much boost are you running to get 260 whp on your stock FS-DE? I'm not bashing the FS or you or anything. I'm just saying it might be best to start with more of a performance motor from Mazda as a platform. I don't plan on trying to achieve a ton of horsepower anyway. My P5 is still my DD.

13-14psi on a gt2860rs

Still too much. There's a guy that autocrosses a late 80s civic local to me that is making ~215whp & 185 lb/ft (from 2000 RPM! LMAO). Running 275/35/15" hoosiers, they struggle to put power down. 350 is way overkill for an FWD unless you're drag racing it w/ monster slicks.

To give you an idea of how much tire that is:

(yes, the ghetto fab hood-scoop is for an air>water intercooler ;))

but thats a civic tho big difference in handling compared to the protege.. n i drive hard in the mountains all the time its my favorite thing to do and 350 wud b right around perfect for me.. and the power is there for when you need it.. its not like you gotta be at WOT the whole time.. as for drag racing not really a fan straight line gets boring to me after awhile...

LOL so what you're saying is you want completely unmanageable power in a car that handles worse?

Uh... ok.

"nd ur gona drv hrd in t3m mtnz" with it? Just let me know where so I can stay off the road. Just remember, the throttle makes understeer worse.

I could make you a custom coolant tank that fits PERFECTLY into that hole. My tanks are 3" diameter and that hole is 3.5" diameter. Any color you want too.

I actually made my own tank out of aluminum. It turned out pretty good. Getting the cover was a pain in the ass though. Thanks for the offer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from building their car, I love seeing the stuff folks on here do.
That said: it's not the 1st time I've voiced my opinion discouraging someone from doing something stupid.

hmmm.... can you elaborate here please? the bar is 1/2" thick. To gain a 1/4" even would be cutting it in half. Or did you mean you had to make room for the oil pan AND it hangs too low?

The bar itself compaired to ground is low. Between a really badly crowned lane, and a drive way with a drop off in it that I even took at a steep angle ive dragged a few times. Just gotta be more alert I suppose.

Finished my turbo build today. Went for a run, and its cutting out off and on. Im gonna hook up the SSAFC and see if it might be vacuum

Hows it look? I have seen it on a BMW, but not the P5 yet. Did it make a huge difference since we dont have many interior lamps anyway?

It is way better now. I never used the lights before cause they just sucked but now they actually give off a good amount of light. The hatch is what really needed help with light and the led made a huge difference back there. I think having another light on the other side of the hatch would be the best though. But just the one is so much better than the old bulb.

I think what they should have done was put the hatch-light in the headliner back there to be honest, but that's just me ;)

Anybody on here selling tires for the stock P5 wheels? I don't need anything fancy at all but they can't be winter tires and they have to have at least an ok amount of tread left.

WTB thread? lol

Got the bracket made for the coolant tank. Also made the brackets for the Intercooler. Maybe tomorrow ill do (later today) ill start on some small stuffs. Well see. Im dead ass tired.

Did anyone read the Honda FF Challenge article in Super Street? A 422whp Civic won. Would you call the owner and driver of that car "stupid"? I'm not saying FWD is the best platform for performance, we all know RWD is better for that. And reading your posts DOES sound like you're trying to discourage a build like this and like you're putting down the 247 community for building high power FWD cars and calling people "stupid", even though you say you're not. Or maybe I'm just reading it wrong... Or maybe it's because the ex-P5 guys now with Miata's like to tell P5 people they are are doing it wrong. Or maybe I'm just tired and crabby from wrenching all weekend.

I'd still like a ride in ANY car with 350whp. FWD or RWD. :)

No I didn't read the article, and without knowing the details of the car and the driver, I can't make that determination. And I never said 350+ is stupid ALWAYS. Just that unless you're going to be running a LOT of tire, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear will be com.plete.ly.useless. Like for example the 205s, 215s, and 225s that everyone thinks are "so huge"And you'd probably want to change the final drive as well to get some taller gearing to keep it under control.

I am trying to discourage it in this case, because he makes it sound like having 350 hp will make it a more fun mountain run. And I'm just saying that unless he's Michael Schumacher, he's more likely to put it into a tree. And while I often enjoy revelling in the stupidity of others, I never like seeing someone hurt their car or themselves over it. A couple hundred horsepower makes for a crazy fast protege. I've driven it. Autucrossed it even. With the right suspension and tires it's crazy fast, and fun as hell.

But I digress, obviously nothing I say can keep anyone from doing what they want with their money, so.. (shrug)

I am, but the tires are brand new. I was trying to sell them locally for less than i bought the tires for but no one would bite. They wanted the rims for their winter tires. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123781265-Stock-P5-Wheels-with-New-tires

PM me and we can discuss a price.

I've got some, but that would suck to ship across the border, haha.

That would work great as long as you didn't have the cover in the back, which i always do.
