Just a heads up but when you "grind a gear" your not actually grinding the teeth on the gear. A manual transmission has all of it gears (with the exception of the reverse idler) in constant mesh at all times. The "grind" you hear are the dog teeth on the synchro not going into place right.
The reason this happened was because the gear teeth themselves are weak and just could handle the power. A direct fix is replacing the gear with the beefier GTX gear
Ohh... that's good to know. So basically "grinding the gears" is actually more like "grinding the syncro?" If I grind while shifting alot, that means my synchro will go out, not my gears? I don't know so don't make fun of me for asking.
When (more like if) I end up being able to get the KLZE swap, I'd like to add the beefier gears and a welded LSD. What gears are the ones your are supposed to change? Like 1,3, and 5?
Thank you sir (thumb)
te reason I ask is b-cuz my msp is torn apart in a shop right now as we speak its gettin a gt3071r,forged pauter rods and arias pistons, And a good friend of mine told me i might as well weld the lsd while its all out the car.
