Turbo me up

Mazda 323 BJ 2002
I have a BJ Astina 2002-2003. It came with an FP motor that I have now ditched and upgraded to an FS Motor. I am not sure whether it is a DE or ZE, which I will find out about soon and update you.

Now that I have done this, how hard is it to add a turbo. everyone seems to say no, but I cant work out why considering there was a DET turbocharged model (which I believe was in the MP3 and the 2003 Protege). I would have thought that this would be a simple bolt-on job.

I realised that there are probably some replacement parts, but I was hoping someone could shed me some light. For example, on the FS motor, wouldn't the oil line for the turbo from the sump be there already. Obviously it would be closed off, but I wouldnt have thought it would be hard to open up. Same as the zacuum lines etc etc. Would the fuel pump be the same? Or would they have used a lesser pump in the straight version? Either way, I would assume the more powerful fuel pump would be easily purchased and just "Dropped In"???

Am I missing something? Thinking to simply?

Also ECU. Surely the Turbo version ECU would be a simple click in. I can't imagine Mazda fully customising each part so it doesn't fit!!

Any thoughts?

first read that link should hopefully work. and the only turbo protege was the 2003 mazdaspeed protege. the mp3s were not turbo ( i wish they were) on to the fs de/ze in your car. do you have obd2? the fsze was obd1 and was high compression no good for a turbo.the msp ecu does simply "click" in. the link should tell you everything you need to know about the oil and coolant line routing what will work and what you should do. any other questions ask away

I would assume OBD2 as the Australian FP motor that I have just ditched would have been. Which would hint at the DE and not the ZE being now in my car!! I am also sure that the motor came out of an SP20 but all my research has got me more confused than anything else. Between Japanese, American and European models and the fact that I am dealing with Aussie models, I heard my brain go pop a couple of days ago!!!

Pull the valve cover off and see if the cams are stamped fsh9 I think that's the one if it does then it would be the ze. Or get the serial number off the block and call mazda they can run it and give you the engine code
