I have a BJ Astina 2002-2003. It came with an FP motor that I have now ditched and upgraded to an FS Motor. I am not sure whether it is a DE or ZE, which I will find out about soon and update you.
Now that I have done this, how hard is it to add a turbo. everyone seems to say no, but I cant work out why considering there was a DET turbocharged model (which I believe was in the MP3 and the 2003 Protege). I would have thought that this would be a simple bolt-on job.
I realised that there are probably some replacement parts, but I was hoping someone could shed me some light. For example, on the FS motor, wouldn't the oil line for the turbo from the sump be there already. Obviously it would be closed off, but I wouldnt have thought it would be hard to open up. Same as the zacuum lines etc etc. Would the fuel pump be the same? Or would they have used a lesser pump in the straight version? Either way, I would assume the more powerful fuel pump would be easily purchased and just "Dropped In"???
Am I missing something? Thinking to simply?
Also ECU. Surely the Turbo version ECU would be a simple click in. I can't imagine Mazda fully customising each part so it doesn't fit!!
Any thoughts?
