Turbo install this weekend

Sorry to get off topic but I was curious about something. Did you buy all of the parts from a Mazda Dealership? If so, about how much has it cost you? I want to turbo my P5 and I'd rather buy the MSP setup that some other aftermarket kit. Also, how much was the manifold itself? This is the item I am really worried about getting. I can fab the intercooler lines (I plan on intercooling) and some of the other stuff but the down pipe and manifold are the two items I really need. Any knowledge is helpful. Thanks!

The majority of the parts I bought off members here. I bought the stock MSP Calloway exhaust manifold. I'm using my intake mani that's already on the p5, they're identical. I've spent around $1200 and all I need is this damn oil cooler, if it really is needed. If you're not looking for huge numbers and something that's gonna be a little more reliable, I'd go with the MSP kit.

best of luck for you on this install.........i am busy with my son this weekend. he is a handful (a good one though)!

make sure you post pics of your install!

Thanks for the information. I just need to find a place to get the parts from. Any possible way I could get a parts list from you, here in the thread is fine, so that I can start looking into this myself? I would really appreciate it. Thanks man!

Thanks Ry. Bring little G-unit too, it's never too early to start turning wrenches! ;) I just got confirmation that the oil cooler is not a necessity, so I will be installing everything this weekend. I'm gonna order the oil cooler and whenever it gets here I'll install it. (cabpatch)

Congrats and good luck! I am jealous. I (along w/ many others I'm sure) am very interested in this project. Definately going to watch this thread closely. What type of gains do you expect?

The usual MSP #'s, hoping I'll be around 180 or higher. Basically I just want a little more oomph in the p5 and thought this would be a great project/learning experience in the process. I plan on taking lots of pics, possibly even videos, and hope to put a how-to together!

That's what I hear! Are you running an oil cooler on your beauty, Mark?

Ask and you shall recieve...parts list for the mazdaspeed components. The second pic lists the cosmetic parts specific to the MSP, the last 4 are the actual mechanical parts.

you know that long line with the threaded pipe, that i said goes to the oil cooler, youll need to run a hose from there to the turbo water line, so u dont have a hole in the loop, otherwise u wont be cooling the turbo which would be bad. lmk if u need anything.

edit: and what my opinion isnt professional now? haha

Thanks again Tony, and of course your opinion is professional, I just like to hear different opinions from fellow msp gearheads. ;) I know what you mean about completing the loop. I have an extremely intelligent mechanic friend coming by tonight to decifer my madness, lol, so he should be able to show me how to avoid having a hole there. And Schiesskopf, a HUGE thanks goes out to you for the major parts! ;)

I know i was kiddin. :)

youll see what i mean. you may need to just cap off that fitting or soemthing. i dont remember exactly where it goes but youll see the hole for sure.

edit. ok the long one goes to the turbo water line, the other turbo water line goes to the J. so alls u have to do is cap ooff that extra nipple untill your ready. that fitting im talkin about is number 69 on ur sheet.

The oil lines are just to lubricate the bearings. Not really for cooling the turbo. And the coolant lines are to cool the turbo. There are some turbo's that are oil cooled like the T-series turbos. But the Garretts are usually water cooled.
