Transmission problem.

A friend and I were leaving Baumhowers week before last, and when pulling out my MSP felt like it died, kinda like we hit fuel cut, even though we were only doing maybe 25mph and just granny putting along. So I press the clutch in, and realize it didnt die on me, and pull it out of second to go ahead into 3rd, and nothing. No fourth either. After we coasted a bit, I pushed the shifter over and it went right into 5th, and all of a sudden I have all my gears again. So we hit the interstate up to the next exit where I live, and by the time the light changes at the bottom of the ramp, I have no gears again. Rev the motor, got first with a grind, double clutch got second with a grind, third grind, fourth grind, pull into my apart complex, and have to fight it all the way to my garage. My bud and me thought, great, my clutch just gave out because I could rev it and double pump it to get into gear. So I ordered up a Spec stage one, and installed it last night, and finished up on it tonight. Got the car started up a little while ago, went out for a spin, and at first everything seemed fine. NOPE. Started to feel like I was bogging, or pushing against a wall. At first takeoff, the car shakes and then feels like it pops into gear then smoothes out and goes on along, but i cant change gears until I battle with the trans. Im at the same point I was before, only, now that Ive driven it some more, it is worse. First is pretty much non-existent. second shakes like hell but is smooth as long as youre not giving it gas. And I havent tried anything else. Ive bled the slave and the master is pumping great, have good solid pedal like I should. No noises anymore. Before all this I had a chatter from the trans I attributed to the throwout bearing, since when I pushed the clutch in the chatter would stop. I have daily driven the car since I got it, and Ive never had a problem with the clutch or trans other than the chatter, not even a hiccup. Im thinking its the transmission. My thought at this point is that the trans is garbage... Any ideas?

PS: The clutch that came out was total garbage... the throwout bearing being the worst, it was trashed... Looks like they were the originals, never changed, and got 96k on em.

when my diff went i only had certain gears then it got progressively worse. tear it apart. and check the teeth, synchros, all that stuff. and look at the diff. that will help us know what is going on.

You probably had something fail inside the tranny. Maybe the input shaft bearing is seizing on you, which could be why you don't hear the tranny whining when the clutch is in. Best thing would be to tear it apart if you are comfortable with it. Both littleminus and myself have done it, its not that intimidating once you get over the moving parts. Good luck

oh man this is the 3rd thread on trannys at the top of the msp car problems list and im starting to get very worried about my grinding and humming noises that started a few months ago... the more info on this stuff the better please reply any info on the problem!!!

if possible i would pull it apart as soon as you can. as the longer you go things could get progressively worse and worse costing much much more.

Im not driving it. I have another car... I may end up selling the car though. Just dont really have the funds to fix it right now...

lol that sucks yo. It kinda sounds like your diff is broke but im not sure cuz when my diff broke i dont think the car would even move it would just rev

Well whatever it is you will need to pull the tranny. This is why alot of us decide to do our own tranny work, it ultimately costs less, but you need to have some basic car knowledge and understanding to do so. Otherwise it gets more expensive for sure. GL
