The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Aint nobody call them RX7 wheels. Just say FD's and we will know what you mean. haha

QFT!

225/50/R16. Rivals, RE-11A, ZII, RS-3.

That's what I would pick. I also put them in order of awesomeness.

If you don't want something quite so... aggressive. Continental ExtremeContact DW is the easy choice. Especially since you have the hook up to get $80 back via Marlon.
I also ran Hankook V12s, they were pretty awesome for the price. $79/ea in that size.

Since they're 8" wide, I think you can run 215, 225, or 235 width tires. I run 225 on my 8" wide street wheels and 235 for my 8" wide track wheels.

I'm not sure what height you should get. I'm assuming you'll want pretty beefy tires on the FD wheels in order to have an accurate speedometer. I like to use this tire size calculator http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp It lets you compare and gives you a good idea on the fitment. I think 225/50/16 would be a good size. I'm sure you can find a similar thread talking about tire sizes on FD wheels on other forums too if you search around.

^ Ha, I ninja'd you this time. But at least we said the same thing both times. :D

The problem with 16s is the tire selection is pretty crappy. Any size other than 225/50/16 is going to leave you with less than stellar options.

s*** when i bought the OZ's they had 255-45-17's and they were pretty square with the wheels... my 225's are slightly stretched on my 8's

yea kinda hard to get aggressive. I would prefer to stay a little cheaper right now. I was already looking at the v12's and at 71 a piece shipped I think it sounds like a winner at 225/50/16. Thanks guys didn't know if it would be a waste to get summer tires or not.
Everything I've read about the 16 size tire everyone says they are wider then you would think. I would think 225 would be stretched but Everywhere I look they aren't. They are coming with 225's so I guess I'll see

Anything EK will fit the V? According to eBay or according to real sources? haha

I never got into the rear camber kit for my EK. I had Skunk2 front control arms and they were great pieces and they have been in the Honda game forever. I haven't looked into Civic parts for about 6 years so I'm not sure who are good/bad. And there are SO many options for Civics.

Why do you need rear camber kit for the V? I thought it was just rubbing on the mudflap? IIRC, they make an adjustable bar that bolts to the rear suspension and into the fender well. That's how to adjust the rear camber. But again, it's been years since I had mine...

Rear camber is controlled with an upper control arm. It bolts directly to the frame. The stock ones are rusted and not adjustable. With a taller ride height I want to get my alignment closer to 0s - a bit off right now.
up to 00 civic and 01 integras have the same part number with the 01 V.

i cannot tell you how much more fun it is driving with a dedicated set of summer tires, and a dedicated set of snows instead of all seasons... initial investment isnt the cheapest but its sooo much more rewarding IMO

I believe it. Not every tire with the same section width are created equal! I've seen pretty big differences between two of the "same sized" tires, maybe up to .2-.25" of section width.

Hell, I had my RE-11s and NT-01s stacked next to each other in my house over the winter and RE-11s created a noticeably taller stack with the same size wheel/tire.

oh i know different brands can be wider/narrower than each other, i was just stating that 255's are capable of fitting on an 8" wheel so he should be alright with the sizes he was looking at (granted i have 17's not 16's so the sidewall height could change that slightly)

There is an $80 MIR on the Hankooks right now. $236 + shipping is pretty hard to beat.

Damn, that's a nice price on those V12's. I'm looking to run the 225/50 on the wife's 3 with 16x7.5 RX8 wheels once her stock 205/55's are toast. Given the current $80 rebate going 'til the end of the month makes me seriously consider buying them a little early.

Tirerack is $79ea with $80 rebate + shipping.
Discount Tire is $91ea with $80 rebate + free shipping.

Damn, I see Will and I were thinking the same. Having TR ship them to my work addy is $1 cheaper than DTD after the rebate. LOL

I mean I will still have all seasons on my drags and just have summer on the fd's. I'm picking the wheels up tonight now. But I will order the V12's today too. I have winter tires and wheels too. But I'm working on getting a cheap winter beater. My insurance will go down if I get a cheap civic or focus or something so I might grab one. Preferably automatic because I'll be having surgery on my right wrist this winter (another reason to park the speed) if anyone knows anything I'm not picky just has to be cheap. I'm going to look at a civic for 600 at a dealer in wadsworth tomorrow 1998 170k ftw

discount tire is free shipping and for 4 its 284 its 290 something and I have ordered from discount tire. just call discount tire and they will beat tire rack

Discount Tire charges tax on the purchaseif I am not mistaken, which normally means the same price in the end as Tire Rack does not charge sales tax

I've never been hit with tax from DTD but might make a difference that I have them shipped to the office in NJ? Over the years I've saved around $10-$20 per set of tires ordering from DTD vs. TR. Not a lot but the savings is put towards m&b. I have noticed over the last year or so that DTD's prices are a bit higher, I presume to offset the free shipping. As for them beating TR, not so much as they take into account the total including shipping when you contact them to price match.

V12s from DTD - 4x$91 = $364 shipped
V12s from TR - 4x$79 = $316 + $47.62 (shipping to NJ from DE) = $363.62 shipped

I LOVE ME SOME HONDAS BUT THIS CRACKED ME THE HELL UP

I just checked an invoice from buying tires from Discount Tire about 1 year ago and I was charged 6.75% tax on my order ($53.73). Shipping was free.

I checked an invoice from buying tires from Tire Rack about 2 months ago and I was not charged tax. However, they did charge me $54.90 shipping.

So either way, it looks like you have to pay for tax or shipping LOL. Unless you find it somewhere else for the same low price with free shipping and no tax.

Just bargained $33 down (from the original price) for a rear subframe for the V, includes the sway bar and end links. Win! I like the "make an offer" feature. Most of the @ss is going to look brand new - yaaay!
