Sounds like you got a "Bad apple" I would be mad as hell!

I roll with it. I don't b**** about it as much cause I kinda knew what i was getting into when I bought a car from a certain company and at what ever price it was. These cars are on the market to do everything at once at half the cost. s*** like that doesn't work out. But I will say this when GM put a bad oil filled motor mount in the cobalt the dealers pro actively changed them in the 05's to avoid failures. Hell my car was more an 06/07 then an 05 by the time I was done. Mazda on the other hand likes to bury its skeletons.....

I understand ppl getting defensive over cars that they like. However the name of this thread is Stupid Cobalt SS so, and it comes off as an invite to bash. I do think that the cobalt SS trim level is the nicest looking car chevy has ever made in this segment. It is still not for me, as far as problems, well s*** happens. I moslty dislike cavaliers/cobalts for the same reason I dislike mustangs and civics The ppl I have dealt with that owned these cars were ******* tools. I would myself not purchase any of these cars, but this is mostly from knowing ppl that owned them that had major issues, it was ugly or it was a civic.

lemons do happen. the statistics involved in a single person having 2 in a row is quite unusual.

who said my mazda is a lemon? If the s*** that breaks or squeaks is a known issue that doesn't make it a lemon. Oh noes am I the only one who's had a bad turbo, broken motor mount, and squeaky suspension?

Guess i should go buy an srt-4 so no one will be surprised when I complain about creeks and rattles. cobalt, SRT-4, MS3, RSX-s its all the same death just in a different way man thats all im trying to say.

well, thats a lot of stuff to go wrong so quickly. I have experienced none of those issues. So far only the faulty bose problem that cropped up on cars built between jan and april of 2008. My build date was march so it fell right in there. Granted the car is still only a month old, but I have already racked up 2000 miles so that isn't a bad start, and enough of a break in to see where the problems would be for me.

my first issue started at 4700. Its hit or miss man thats how it goes for all cars and all problems.

But honestly, would you even consider a cobalt over an M3?
The engineering is night and day, imo.
I do have respect for some competition, but as far as American economy cars go, I say to hell with them, and their turbo couterparts :)

I will not knock american econobox just because they are not of quality standards do make them slow..............if you ever come upon a srt 4 neon becareful i've seen them keeping up with corvettes.

RIght. But a vette is a well designed car with good quality and SRT4 is not. SRT's can smoke me all day long, I dont give a s***, I know I have a nicer car.

That's awesome you have the reserve to not take the bait on the streets. My self on the other hand, well lets just say I give in to temptation from time to time. (Most likely not as bad as you might think)

I think I need to get into legal racing other than just running 1/4's at the local strip.

helps (or hurts) that i am 40, and trying to nurse my driving record back to health...

wow, darksun. is your ride still under warranty? if so, i would make a list, attach it to a letter and give it to the service manager. make it clear that you are absolutely peeved about the nagging issues, and accept nothing less than them fixing everything. car companies hate bad press.

interior rattles and squeaks would drive me effen insane! right up there with fluid leaks. i have zero tolerance with them in new (warrantied) rides. you paid for a new car, make them fix it.

MS3077, a few months ago, i paid $245 to run at thunderhill raceway. friends and i joked, and called it the "thunderhill200". i set my trip odo, and logged 211 miles on the track. there was only 2 run groups, and we went every 30 minutes. it got to the point where they would call us up, and we would sign, and say, "already?" we got exhausted and had to fill up on gas. un-effen-believe-able! more fun than ever. i live in the bay area so we have lots of tracks. thunderhill, laguna seca, and infineon. on the streets it just quit being fun...nothing and i mean nothing amps you up like hitting an apex and letting the car drift out of the corner...you cant do that on the street. i will eventually get my MS3 out there too.

where do you live?

LOL I got voided for having a cobb intake. LONG story.........

all my point was is that I love me car even with the quirks it might have. there are faster cars, but if the car is faster but a piece of s***, I would not want one.
