see attached pic please...

now that you looked, I was wondering if removing the weather stripping inbetween the 2 red lines would allow more airflow to my SRI while the hood is closed? has anyone done this? even worth doing?

please reply with any info on this, good or bad no problem, input needed and will be greatly appreciated =]

oh, and is purchasing some sort of heat shield worth it as well? anyone rockin a heatshield? pics?

thanks guys

I went to a local crafts store and bought a square piece of "foam insulation" about 4 inches thick. I cut a hole in it and mounted it to my sri. It insulates the sri from all that hot air coming from the turbo. Seems to work great and cost all of $5.

Even with the rubber seal gone that is still a pretty small gap. I don't know how much air will be pushed through there. Adds cost but I'd say a better way to go is to get more air in through the grill area, by creating some more vents at the rear of the hood area to create a low pressure zone. More air in the front will lessen the overall underhood temp.

Somebody also makes a hood with a Nascar-type scoop right about where the SRI filter lies. But it isn't cheap.

great info, i've been reading about lowering the temp in the engine bay a lot on the net lately, and i think im gonna go with creating some holes to allow air into the hood thru the grill and then remove the weather stripping on the rear of the engine bay so it has a nice way to (gtfo)
